This week: shout out to our partner Rikolto!

Rikolto means ‘harvest’ in Esperanto. Their goal is to ‘harvest’ innovative ideas and grow sustainable and creative solutions in order to make healthy and qualitative food choices possible and affordable for everyone. Rikolto is an international organisation that sails into biodiversity challenges, tries to tackle poverty, dishonesty and unfair incomes for farmers. They do this by supporting a variety of activities, connecting people trough participation and doing research. In Belgium, Rikolto faces the battle to make food policies more sustainable and food healthier and accessible in schools with projects like the GoodFood@School through a Whole School Food Approach. Joining forces with supermarkets and food companies concerning sustainability in retail companies is another important aspect in creating sustainable food policies. After all, healthiness, sustainability and accessibility of food go hand in hand.

Therefore, Rikolto strongly beliefs in the need for our LUNCH-BOX-MONITOR project. They notice the lack of healthy and sustainable lunchboxes in school aged children. Rikolto supports us through professional advice and recommendations and helps in distributing findings and results in order to develop and set up further actions in the future.
