At LSR, a premier educational institution of the University of Delhi, we believe in the exemplary mission of nurturing young women and equipping them to succeed in a rapidly changing, inter-dependent world. LSR was established by the late Sir Shri Ram in the memory of his wife in 1956. We are, and have always been, restless and tireless in fulfilling his vision of ‘More education. More education for Women. And more education for more women.’
Today, LSR is a name synonymous with leadership, scholarship and reinvention. Be it academics, extracurricular or co-curricular activities, LSR has proven itself time and again. We have been ranked among the top in country-wide surveys and have received an A++ grade in the second cycle of the NAAC accreditation process. Our alumna and students continue to make their mark on global and domestic platforms, making us proud every day.
About LSR
Lady Shri Ram College for Women, has long been recognized as a premier institution of higher learning for women in India. A centre for academic excellence and achievement, it is today one of the finest institutions for Social Sciences, Humanities and Commerce, while also offering a B.Sc. Programme in Statistics. Professional courses like Elementary Education and Journalism are among its strengths. Located at the cutting edge of knowledge, LSR has not just kept pace with the changing world, but has been the pioneering spirit behind many innovations in the field of education. College Events
India Post Honors Delhi’s Leading Women’s Colleges. LSR received the honour of being selected as one of four leading Delhi women’s colleges to be represented on a special miniature sheet containing a set of commemorative stamps released by India Post. The stamp celebrates the institution’s legacy of excellence, education, and women’s empowerment. It is a tribute to LSR’s role in nurturing confident women leaders, bold thinkers, and change makers. The stamp was unveiled by Ms. Vandita Kaul, Secretary (Posts), and Ms. Smriti Sharan, Joint Secretary, Department of Rural Development on March 25, 2026.- In 2025-26, 10 students of LSR cleared the UPSC CSE 2025- Surabhi Yadav, Ifra S. Ansari, Devanshi Kaura, Maurvie Tiwari, Kashish Karla, Navneet Kaur, Gauri Bansal, Shreya Gupa, Smith Sabu, Kritika Chaudhary.
- LSR won the title in the Women’s College Category basketball tournament at the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh 2026, defeating Shri Ram College of Commerce in the final. Initiated by the Government of Delhi, the Mahakumbh began on February 13, 2026, at Chhatrasal Stadium.
- In March 2026, Enactus LSR members -Aanya Gupta, Purvi Kansal, and Vanshika Khanna placed first at the ENS Sustainability Case Competition organized by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, competing against 1400+ participants.
- Anu Garg, a graduate of LSR, was named the Chief Secretary of Odisha in December 2025. She is the first woman to occupy this administrative position in the state’s history. A member of the 1991 IAS batch, she has over thirty years of experience in public service. Her journey exemplifies women’s leadership, determination, and excellence in governance.
- On 15th November 2025, Anisha Narain, a first-year student of LSR, was awarded the prestigious Rotary Youth Achiever Award for inspiring social service and leadership skills. She pledged to donate the amount of Rs 1 Lakh received as a prize to the foundation so that the service work can progress more widely.
- The Classical wing of the Dance Society of LSR won First place at the BITS Pilani Festival on 10th November 2025. The Choreography wing won the second position in the group category. Additionally, the Classical team won First and Second positions in the Solo category.
- On 6th November 2025, players of Lady Shriram College won the Delhi University’s Women’s Inter-Collegiate Tennis Tournament, defeating Hansraj College 2-0 in the final.

Lady Shri Ram College for Women is pleased to invite nominations for the “Dr. Ved Mittal Shreshth Guru Sammaan,” graciously funded by distinguished Alumna and Governing Body member, Hon’ble Justice Gita Mittal. This award honors LSR faculty who exemplify excellence in teaching, mentorship, and institutional leadership. We welcome nominations from alumni, peers, and educationists who wish to recognize educators who have profoundly impacted the academic community through innovation and integrity. Vimarśa: A Journal of South Asian Research.
This is the first flagship journal of Lady Shri Ram College for women in Humanities and Social Sciences. The journal is an interdisciplinary, peer reviewed and an open access one.
Vimarśa: A Journal of South Asian Research aligns closely with LSR’s commitment to academic innovation and collaborative research. The journal’s website is now live. We invite you to share it widely and consider submitting your research. We hope to create a vibrant platform for dialogues, discussions and exchange of ideas.
