Mission Statement
Lower Macungie Library strives to inform, enrich and empower our community.
History of Lower Macungie Library
Lower Macungie Library was established in 2000 as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
Who We Serve
The library serves two municipalities – Lower Macungie Township and Alburtis Borough.
IN 2018, we partnered with all the libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties to form the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative (LCLC). This partnership allows patrons to borrow items from any of the other libraries without having to go to that library. Items placed on hold will be delivered here within 1-2 days! In 2024, the LCLC expanded its partnership to include libraries in Monroe County, Nazareth, Bangor and Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton. This gives our residents access to 1.4 million items.
What We Offer
Our collection includes juvenile, young adult and adult books, audio CDs, music CDs, DVDs, magazines, museum passes, puzzles and online databases including our Access PA and Power Library databases. Digital collections such as eBooks, eAudios, eMagazines, eMusic, eMovies and more are also available for our patrons which can be downloaded to your computer, eReader, tablet or other mobile device through Libby, Hoopla or Kanopy apps.
Within the library we have 9 computers that offer high-speed Internet access as well as MS Office 2019 productivity suite; public WiFi is also available. We also offer color and black & white printing, copy, fax, scanning services, and mobile printing.
Programs and events for all ages are offered year-round including storytimes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, educational and entertaining programs for children in grades K-12, including a summer reading program. We also offer programs for adults such as the Adult Summer Reading Club, book clubs, craft programs, and monthly presentations on various topics. Please visit our Events calendar for the latest information on all our happenings.

You can apply at the Circulation Desk and present your driver’s license or other proof of ID. You can also register online and we will mail you your library card. If you are under 18 years old, you must apply with a parent.
