Pulp Alley Doctor Who game: Day of the Daleks.
This is my effort at converting a Doctor Who the Miniatures Game (DWMG) scenario "Day of the Daleks" to a Pulp Alley game. I had run the DWMG game at home and at convention and it was very successful and I wanted to see how Pulp Alley would handle the game.

Pulp Alley Star Trek: The Apple
Star
Trek Pulp Alley Scenario: The Apple.
This was a 4 player Pulp Alley scenario inspired by the Star Trek Original series episode “The Apple” and other similar episodes where a primitive people are enslaved by a computer that also threatens the Enterprise. In this case other forces besides the Federation are involved.
Background:
On stardate 3715.3, the Federation starship USS
Enterprise along with Klingon, Romulan and Temporal Marauder ships arrives at
Gamma Trianguli VI, a planet that appears to be a tropical paradise with very
rich natural mineral resources and very dense jungle terrain inhabited by
primitive natives. Each ship captain is
eager to gain the mineral rights for his home world and they send down landing
parties to try to make contact with the natives but things soon start to go
wrong. The jungle is full of dangerous
plants that attack animal life, including firing poison darts, plus some of the
minerals (rocks) are explosive. It is
also difficult to navigate through the jungle and the natives prove to be
elusive. However some intelligence is
gathered, the natives are called the "Feeders of Vaal" and are
effectively slaves to Vaal who is a “god” they worship. The natives provide
Vaal with fuel (minerals) and in return it provides the natives with
all other resources such as food and shelter and moral guidance. Vaal’s temple
is in a large Moai like head statue on a hill in a jungle clearing. Spock's analysis shows that the entrance to
Vaal’s temple is protected by a force field, and it appears to lead to an
underground complex with a computer system, perhaps constructed by a long-dead
civilization.

Monster Mash Halloween Pulp Alley Game
Monster Mash
This was a seven player game with a Halloween monster theme using the Pulp Alley rules.
I
created this Halloween scenario as a 7 player game so each league was
restricted to 5 slots worth of figures and 2 slots of perks which
usually meant just 3 figures. The objective was to capture the treasure
in the Crypt in the centre of the battlefield.

Doctor Who the Miniatures Game (DWMG) webpage and Yahoo group shut down.
Looks like the DWMG webpage and Yahoo group are no more. I suspect the heavy hand of Warlord or the BBC. This is very sad news as Graeme Dawson produced an excellent set of rules (DWMG) that will now be difficult to find (but not impossible, see link below for the facebook page).

Flames of War Pacific
This was a 15mm Flames of War ( FoW) game set in Malay in late 1941, Japanese versus Allies (Commonwealth). It was hosted by me on Sunday 13 November 13, 2016 and I also played on the British side.
This game had 4 players and some spectators, including The Ronin North of the River Each player had 1,000 FoW points worth of troops and the game lasted 4 turns. The Japanese proved to be very effective, especially attacking at night in the jungle, see the special FoW rules for them here:

Elf Civil War, KOW
AAR Report Elf Civil War: KoW 10 Jan. 2016
General note:
We were eager to get a game in as the miniatures had been languishing in storage due to having given up on WFB after one too many rule and army book changes. Some figures got put away before they fully painted when we abandoned WFB. Now that we have found a game system to use that is fast and enjoyable no doubt the motivation to finish painting these figures and paint some more figures. The green and red Dark Elf spearmen that I got on email in particular need a repaint to more appropriate Dark Elf colours, although if I ever run a Christmas game....
Forces:
Each side had 2,700 points and the terms in brackets are either GW WHFB names or explanations. Magic items and spells are not listed but there were some included.Elves (High Elves and Wood Elves):

Kings of War Halloween Game 2015 AAR
This
was a battle between the Undead (Vampire Counts) with Empire of Dust

long edges, terrain consisted of a road running parallel to the long
edge, 2 houses, 3 forest, 1 stream, 2 hills, 2 grave yards, 1 area of
rocky ground and 2 fields. The Forces were 2,300 points each listed
below: (WHFB troop types in italics & brackets). As you will see some of the figures were not completely finished (mostly the bases) as I was rushing to get this game ready for Halloween.

House Rules:
The only change we made to the rules (halfway through the game) was to allow the defending player make his own “Nerve” roll rather than the attacker. It seems more appropriate and gives the defender something to do while the attacking player’s turn is taking place.

Viking Army Victorious at OMG SAGA 2016 Tournament
Here is a picture of my six point SAGA Viking army on my game table
shortly after it fought in the Ottawa Miniatures Gamers (OMG) annual
tournament that was held on Sunday November 6, 2016. This years
tournament was a SAGA rules tournament using six point Dark Age
armies. How went the day? My Vikings were victorious in all three
battles defeating Saxons, Danes and other pesky enemies to win the
tournament.
| The victorious Viking Army with their plunder. |
I look forward to playing more games of SAGA games. As you
can see the painting commitment is not that big as only around 33 to 41
appropriate 28mm figures are needed. Hearthguard are 4 figure groups,
Warriors 8 figures and Levies (missile weapons) 12, the leader is just 1
figure. The Leader is free and each of the other groups is worth one
point, games are typically 6 points per side, but sometimes small games
with just 4 points per side are played. The rules are very innovative
in that they use a dice board that dictates the actions the figures can
take. There is also a fantasy variant army called Revenants I am curious
to try out.

Doctor Who: Battlefield - Cangames 2013
Catching up on some AAR of games prior to my creating this Blog. Back in May 2013 I ran my annual Doctor Who game using the Doctor Who Miniature Games (DWMG) rules at the Cangames 2013 convention in May of that year. This game featured the 7th Doctor (Sylvester McCoy), Ace (Sophie Alfred) plus Morgaine (Jean Marsh) and her dimension shifting Knights that was based on the TV episode and book "Battlefield." A summary of the TV episode with pictures can be found here:
