This volume shows the diverse ways in which the young architectural couple from Barcelona has always addressed questions of architecture, utilization and space. For instance a series of dated momentary photographs while travelling, aptly formulated impressions, thematically specific thoughts and photographs of interior spaces using models present their uninterrupted study of the important themes of architecture. Scattered in between are seven precisely designed buildings on the theme of housing, which are described in detail. The exciting collection is complemented by four essays by renowned guest authors.

In this essay, Emiliano López reconstructs the architectural design process behind the Harvard Married Student Housing, one of Josep Lluís Sert’s most significant works, examining its social, cultural, and ideological context. This approach allows for a deeper understanding and interpretation of the project, revealing key aspects of the architect’s work.
The project, comprising 499 housing units intended to provide temporary accommodation for married students within the Harvard University campus, presents numerous parallels with contemporary debates on collective housing. Despite the differences in context and time, it remains relevant today as a methodological reference.
