End-of-Life for Node.js v18

Node.js v18 will reach end-of-life on April 30, 2025. This version will stop receiving security updates and will no longer be supported on WordPress VIP beyond that date.

To keep your applications secure, WordPress VIP requires all Node.js environments to be upgraded to Node.js v20 before April 30, 2025.

Before implementing Node.js, please conduct tests in a local environment. This testing should encompass a fresh reinstallation of dependencies, as the behavior of npm install can differ between Node.js major versions.

After local testing of the updated Node.js major version is finalized, you can adjust the active major version for your environment through the Software Management panel in the VIP Dashboard.

Note that when Node.js gets updated, the application’s code is reconstructed and launched with the new version. Rest assured, this update process won’t cause any environment downtime. You can learn more about managing Node.js in our documentation.

On March 31, 2025, WordPress VIP will update all Node.js v18 non-production environments to v20.

On April 30, 2025, WordPress VIP will update all Node.js v18 sites to v20.

How can we help?
