What Does Supporting Liverpool FC Mean?

Myself and some of the members of the community got together to discuss the above question. Here is a select few:

- Not supporting a club in the same division, especially our rivals Everton, Man United or Chelsea - by slloyd

- Supporting them because you love the club, not just one or two big players - by songliverbird

- Feeling the good and bad times and always backing your teem 110% no matter what - by bolanboogie

- Respecting the tradition and values of the club, and singing your heart out for the players whether you're on the Kop or in Antarctica - by cockfostersfc

and finally this from laserpubes

For some of our international members I think it's absolutely imperative for you to understand that when you begin to support Liverpool FC, or most other English clubs for that matter, you aren't buying into a franchise that happens to be marketing it's latest product. Unless you are a Chelsea supporter, obviously, because in that case that's all you have available to you so roll with it and don't get upset when we sing "fuuuuck off Chelsea FC; You ain't got no history etc." at you. The majority of Premiership clubs are over 100 years old. Almost as old therefore as the rivalries that exist between the cities where the clubs are based. Supporters of Man U, Leeds and Liverpool have a unique gland
in their bodies that causes unbridled hatred of one another.

In England, there is a general rule that you pick a club (or inherit one) and stick with that club through thick and thin. When Liverpool are losing or playing like shit for long periods of time, and yes that happens sometimes too, think about how we can improve. Sometimes you lose sleep over it, or find yourself headbutting work colleagues just for saying hello to you on Monday morning. When we're winning, think about how we can maintain our fortunes. Tactics, formations, substitutions, team philosophy.

Try to learn about the culture of Liverpool, learn our songs - which is actually much easier these days thanks to YouTube - and for fuck's sake keep up with day to day news coming out of the club; injuries, transfers etc. Don't be a Ben Fucking Walley who came with us to watch a Worthington Cup replay against Boro a few seasons ago and on the way out of the Kop after the 90 says at the top of his voice (of Cisse) "THAT ANELKA WAS FUCKIN BOSS TONIGHT LADS".

Fan girls, i'm all for your squeeing at the boys you fancy, but please realise that when all you have to offer in this community is admiration for Biscan's cock or Garcia's locks then that is going to seriously grind on the nerves of the supporters who come here to discuss the football and couldn't give a monkey's tit about how pretty they are.
