This is a memo put out by the General Manager of the hotel I work at (This is a direct transcription of the memo, no changes have been made in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.):

RE: Manager on Duty calls
----------------------------------------
--------
From now on when a manager is off you must call manager on duty, if you have guest and employee issues. If you try to contact manager of duty several times and are unable to reach her, then you could call manager off. This is the only expectable time to do so

My response:
Elissa: "Who the hell typed this???"
GM: "Me."
Me: "Oh, just checking."
GM: "Oh. Did you read it?"
Me: "I tried."
GM: "What?"
Me: "Never mind. So, basically, you put this memo out because when *pain in the ass guest* demanded to speak to a manager last night, I called Amy instead of calling you?"
GM: "Yes. You shouldn't bother her on her days off."
Me: "I understand, but your phone number is not on the phone list. I called Amy to get your number, but she said she'd rather handle the problem herself."
GM: "Oh, what is my number?"
Me: "If I knew that, I would have called you last night."
GM: "Oh...well, I can't put my number on the phone list if you don't know it."
Me: "What kind of logic is that? I have no way of knowing the number unless it's on the list."
GM: "I don't know my number."
Me: "Then I'm going to call Amy when I have problems."
GM: "Did you read the memo."
At that point, I just turned and walked away.
