Customer attributes

The Customer Attributes feature is an essential tool that allows you to gather specific details about the reviewers themselves. This information can provide context to the reviews, making them more informative and valuable to future customers.

This added layer of detail helps potential buyers understand the perspective of the reviewer and how their own characteristics might align with the product being reviewed.

When setting up your review process, you can choose to ask specific questions that are relevant to the product category. For example: For skincare products, you might ask about the reviewer’s skin type, skin concerns, or age group. These questions are customizable, allowing you to tailor them to the specific needs of your products and customers.

All categories vs per category setup

There are two alternatives for customer attributes setup.

If Lipscore is receiving product category data in the data transfer via the integration, you will be able to set up attributes per category. This means that it will be possible to have a different set of questions on different product groups in your offer. As an example: “skin type” and “skin concerns” for category Skincare products, and “hair type” and “hair concerns” for category haircare products.

If Lipscore is not receiving the product category data, it is still possible to use customer attributes, but the same set of questions will be used on all product categories. It is therefore important to come up with attributes universal to all products in your offer. For example naming it “concerns” using words that might apply to both skin concerns and hair concerns.

How to activate Customer attributes?

If Customer attributes feature is activated in your account, you will find them under Attributes section in the left-hand menu.

If not, reach out to our Support or directly to your Customer Success Manager with a request for more details and quote. Once agreed and updated agreement is signed, Customer attributes will immediately be activated in your account.

How to set up Customer attributes?

Once activated, Customer attributes section will be filled up with categories that are sent to Lipscore via the current integration. You will be able to assign different attribute questions for different product categories. At the top of the list you will always find All categories category. Attributes for All categories will apply to all products regardless of category. If you set up attributes on specific categories they will override the ones set up for All categories.

Note: It may happen that not all the categories will immediately be visible on the list. Whenever a product is purchased, data about its category is sent to Lipscore and the category is added to the categories list. It may therefore take a while before the list is completed.

Step 1. Create attributes

To add Customer attributes to your product categories, you need to create them first. To create attributes, click New attribute button and fill out the data fields. Here is a short explanation of each of them:

Language: The language of attribute – this information allows our system to pick the right language depending on the language used in email invitations.

Attribute: The name of attribute in the Lipscore system.

Question: Question will be displayed on the landing page where customer shares their feedback. It can be an actual question (e.g. What is your skin type?) or just a phrase indicating the rated parameter (e.g. Skin type)

Options: You have the possibility to have up to 10 options which the customer can choose from when answering the question. Simply click the + to add more options.

Fill out the data and Save.

Note: If you are managing more than one language website in the same Lipscore account, make sure to add translations to your attributes. Click Translations then Add new translation and insert translated data.

Step 2. Assign attributes to categories

To assign attributes to a product category, scroll to Assign Attributes to Categories section and choose the category you want to add attributes to. Then select the attribute(s) from the dropdown lists. You can add maximum of 3 attributes to each category but you can go for 1 or 2. The number of attributes depends on how many customer details are relevant for getting the most value from the reviews.

Once added, attributes are automatically saved – you do not have to confirm your choices.

The attributes will automatically be added to the review popup.

In the review list on your product pages, the attributes will be displayed in text form on each individual review.

Important! If you have more than one account in Lipscore, please make sure to complete the setup for Attributes in all your accounts separately.
