The OP Staff Assembly (OPSA) invites you to join the rescheduled UCOP Staff Listening Session: Balance & Engagement in Your Work  This session will focus on the framing question:

What helps you feel balanced and engaged in your work, and what makes it more challenging?  We want to hear from you! This session offers a safe and inclusive environment where staff insights and experiences can be shared and valued, fostering connection, trust, and understanding across UCOP. Using a simple method that incorporates a 3Practice Circles approach, this session encourages participants to 1) listen with your whole self, 2) be curious and ask questions, and 3) share from your own experience.  Participants are welcome to share or simply listen—your presence contributes to building a more connected, supportive, and inclusive UCOP community. This space is created for all staff voices, and the perspectives shared will help foster connection, understanding, and community across UCOP.

Reflective Listening

Managing and Organizing your Email Inbox - Microsoft Outlook

UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 2: PDFs

Building off the Creating Accessible Documents 1: MS Office training, Accessible PDF Documents offers a deep dive into using Adobe Acrobat Pro to manipulate, tag, and test PDF documents for accessibility. We will cover tagging documents from scratch, what common accessibility errors are, tables, and building accessible PDF forms. In order to fully participate in this class, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Pro installed (not just Acrobat Reader). Please note: Creating Accessible Documents 1: MS Office training is a prerequisite for this class.

Box Fundamentals

This course will give you an overview of Box, the cloud-based service that provides secure file storage and file sharing.

  • How to use Box
  • How to collaborate with UCOP and non-UCOP people
  • Commenting directly on files, folder permissions, shared links, and many other tips that will help you when using Box.

UCOP Safety: Basic Awareness

Melissa Collins, Program Manager for Security, Risk and Resilience, will facilitate this 30-minute live virtual class that will provide basic safety tips to help employees feel informed, alert, and safe as they travel to and from the workplace. Extra time will be allotted for questions and feedback. Melissa recently joined UCOP after serving 20 years with the UC San Diego Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant, and is a safety expert.

Project Management 1, session 1 of 3

This is a 3 session course.  You must attend all 3 sessions to get credit for the course.

This engaging three-part series offers a practical and scalable approach to managing projects from initiation through completion. Facilitated by Raj Kapur, a trusted advisor to UCOP, UC Davis, UCSF, UC Davis Health, and other UC organizations, participants will learn to apply the Project Process Architecture (PPA)™, a proven and adaptable project management methodology. Throughout the program, participants use a comprehensive methodology toolkit that serves as both a learning guide and an on-the-job resource. The sessions focus on real-world application, hands-on exercises, and collaborative learning to ensure concepts are immediately transferable to the workplace. This series is designed for professionals who want to build practical project management capabilities, lead with confidence, and deliver results in complex work environments. Participants will gain tools and strategies to:

  • Plan, execute, and lead projects with clarity and confidence
  • Navigate each phase of the project lifecycle
  • Build strong teams, manage upward, and enhance professional presence

Session 1: Establishing Project Foundations This session emphasizes the importance of creating a shared understanding at the outset of a project. Participants will develop a project charter, the key decision document that authorizes the project and formalizes the project manager’s role.

Session 2: Planning with Precision (2/ 18/26) This session focuses on building a professional-grade project plan and developing accurate estimates that support execution.

Session 3: Scheduling, Tracking, and Leading (2/25/26) In this session, participants learn how to transform the project plan into a detailed schedule, monitor progress, and lead project teams effectively.

Managing in the Modern Workplace: In this session, we will discuss UCOP processes and strategies that support building inclusive and engaged teams. Topics include: -Managing remote and hybrid teams, People Development, and Fostering Community and Belonging as a Manager. This is a full day course offered either in-person or remote. We highly encourage managers to attend in-person. This is part of the Manager Essentials at UCOP (ME@UCOP). It is required for all people new to a management or supervisory positions at UCOP since 2020 (internal promotions and external hires). All experienced managers are welcome to attend.

You must attend both sessions.  Second session is Friday, February 20, 9 AM- 12PM

GROWing Your Check In Conversations for Managers

This workshop is the first session of a two-part series required for managers and supervisors.  GROW is a popular conversation framework used around the world for problem solving, goal setting and performance improvement. This interactive session provides managers the opportunity to discuss and practice using GROW framework as a strategy and tool to support engaging employee-manager conversations.
