Searching is a process

Start with keywords, review your results, and adjust your search as needed. Finding useful sources often takes more than one try.

Start here

  • Begin with keywords.
  • Apply filters such as full text, peer review, date, or format.
  • Read the abstract or summary.
  • Use subject headings to find related sources.

Search tips

  • Phrase: Use quotation marks, such as "culinary science".
  • Truncation: Use an asterisk, such as farm*.
  • AND: Combines terms, such as stocks AND sauces.
  • OR / NOT: Expands or excludes terms.

Save your results

Use the database tools to save, email, export, or cite useful sources.

Save, share, and cite

Use the tools in your search results to save records, share links, email items, and create citations.

Share

  • Email: Send a record to yourself or someone else.
  • Permalink: Copy a permanent link to the record.

Cite

  • Format a citation: Generate APA, MLA, or Chicago.
  • Export: Send citations to EndNote or RefWorks.

Save

  • My List: Save records during your current session.
  • Sign in: Keep records saved in your account.
