This study applied the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model to analyze the moderation effects of gender on students' adoption intentions of WhatsApp for learning. Multi-stage sampling techniques were used to obtain 273 participants. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Results showed that gender significantly moderated the effects of(a) performance expectancy on behavioral intention such that the effect was stronger for males than females, and (b) social influence on behavioral intention such that the effect was stronger for females than males. Effects of effort expectancy, mobile self-efficacy, and facilitating conditions on behavioral intention were not moderated by gender. Implications of the findings for practice were discussed and recommendations were made for further research.

Method: A descriptive-based systematic review was conducted to collect data on studies concerning the classification of metaheuristics and the proposal of new metaheuristics. Data was sourced from Google Scholar, Science Direct, Springer, ResearchGate, and IEEE Xplore. For the first research objective, 148 studies were screened, resulting in the selection of six studies. The second and third research objectives involved screening 1145 studies, of which 654 were ultimately selected. This review considers studies published up to August 2023. The extracted data includes the characteristics of each classification and the name, abbreviation, author, year, and metaphor group for each metaheuristic reviewed. Findings: The results reveal that existing classifications do not cover the full range of metaheuristic characteristics. The data indicates a rising trend in the introduction of new metaheuristics over the years, with the peak occurring in 2020, boasting 68 new approaches, closely followed by 2022 with 57 introductions. However, between 1965 and 1992, progress was limited to only one or two new approaches annually, signifying periods of stagnation in the field. The majority of metaheuristics proposed are in the physics-chemistry metaphor group (20%), followed closely by human metaheuristics (18%). Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its exhaustive classification of metaheuristics developed from 1965 to August 2023 based on the metaphor criterion, along with the development progression and percentage-wise representation of various metaphor groups using up-to-date data.

trustworthy electoral processes. We presented a comprehensive framework highlighting trust, diaspora engagement, and
human factors in voting. The study proposes a robust EVS framework for Ghana, emphasizing trust and accountability,
preventing electoral fraud, and encouraging African governments to invest in IT and collaborate with experts in e-government
and e-voting systems. We commence with a detailed systems analysis, identifying specific electoral challenges in Ghana. An
artifact is designed and developed, and its effectiveness is demonstrated through Design Science Research Methodology
(DSRM). We evaluated its alignment with the desired solution for Ghana's electoral issues. We emphasize the potential of
EVS to address electoral challenges in Ghana and underscore the importance of proactive government policies, IT
investments, and collaboration with IT experts. User performance assessment and acceptance testing were evaluated and
achieved a remarkable 98% approval rate, demonstrating the feasibility of implementing EVS at the national level. This
research underlines the role of EVS in Ghana and advocates for visionary government policies and investments in IT. These
measures can modernize electoral systems, align them with international standards, and promote democratic advancement
while preventing electoral fraud in Ghana and other African nations to avoid condemnation and punishment of
unconstitutional transfers of power that are being challenged through meticulously planned takeovers in the subregion in

innovations and represents a basis for the development of lasting competitive
advantage. Therefore, understanding tacit knowledge sharing (TKS) has
important implications for organisations and individuals who are continuously
confronted with the challenge of acquiring and transferring tacit knowledge.
Despite several studies on TKS, there seems to be an absence of an overarching
picture of the concept of tacit knowledge and the relationship between this
concept and other constructs. By reviewing 33 studies, this study synthesises
the relationship between TKS and its antecedents. Particularly, we examine
definitions of tacit knowledge, hindrances to TKS, and categorise TKS
antecedents based on their levels of origin using the antecedents, decision,
outcomes (ADO) and theories, context, methods (TCM) framework.

organizations and governments usually invest in the same. IT project success or failure
has been an issue of concern to researchers in this space for many years. This
is because IT projects are always on the ascendency with the growth of sophisticated
communication and Telecom systems, the quest by industries to digitalize, and
individuals’ craving to use smart devices for almost everything. IT project failure
has dire consequences on the performance of any organization. Literature has tried
several reviews, frameworks, and models, as well as quantitative, qualitative and
mixed methods, to explain the concept of IT project success. Many researchers have
pitched the argument in different dimensions to explain what they deem IT project
success. By reviewing 46 studies based on the PSALAR framework, this study synthesizes
the relationship between IT project success and its antecedents. Notably,

students. The focus was to use the complementary assets (Innovation, Training,
and IT Support) as moderating variables for the relationship between IT
investments and value creation in a mandated (Covid-19 setting) tertiary
educational setting. Methods: One of the leading universities in Ghana was
used as the object of study. A google form questionnaire was sent to the
student body, and 508 responses were received. Smart PLS was used to analyze
the responses. Findings: The results revealed that even though there was some
level of interaction between the complementary assets (Innovation, training, IT
Support) and IT investments, none of them had a significant effect on IT Value
(Training > IT VALUE, p = 0.412; Innovation > IT VALUE, p = 0.371; IT Support >
IT VALUE, p = 0.417). It was also revealed that IT investments was significantly
correlated with IT Value (IT INVESTMENTS > IT VALUE, p = 0.000), confirming
the insignificance of the moderators. In other words, the IT investments alone
created value for the students. Novelty: The study is one of the early studies
in IT value creation beyond IT investments in a mandated tertiary educational
setting. In this study, it is evident that students in a mandated environment,
such as in the case of Covid-19, where students are mandated to use the LMS
and other IT infrastructure, will find their way out to create value for themselves
once the IT infrastructure is in place; complementary assets may not be too
necessary.

Methods: Data were collected from 599 tertiary students from across five public universities in Ghana using online questionnaires to measure Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), Attitude Towards Use (ATU), and Behavioural Intention (BI). The collected data were analyzed using PLS-SMART. Findings: The study's findings suggest that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use affect students' attitudes toward LMS use (That is, PEU-> ATU [O = 0.227, t = 4.747, p = 0.000] and PU-> ATU [O = 0.430, t = 8.993, p = 0.000]), which affects students' behavioural intention to use IT (That is, ATU-> BI [O = 0.314, t = 6.828, p = 0.000]). In addition, the most vital relationship was "perceived ease of use" as a predictor of "perceived usefulness" (That is, PEU-> PU [O = 0.440, t = 10.025, p = 0.000]). Furthermore, contrary to expectations, perceived enjoyment and perceived trustworthiness, also considered critical predictors, did not affect students' attitudes toward LMS use (That is, PE-> ATU [O = 0.085, t = 1.776, p = 0.076] and PT-> ATU [O = 0.033, t = 0.744, p = 0.457]). Novelty: These findings provide valuable insights which can enhance education quality and students' acceptance of LMS during mandated environments such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The framework of the study is an extension of the original TAM model, including new constructs, perceived enjoyment, and perceived trustworthiness.

The office of Government commerce of the UK Government in conjunction with the National Audit came out with a guideline in 2007 which list out eight causes of project failures. Six out of the eight causes were attributed to governance issues (Aon, 2011). This shows clearly that governance activities in project management are really important, and failure to place premium on them can result in failure of projects. The research work was therefore intended to come out with IT governance frameworks that can help resolve the problem of failure of IT projects resulting from governance issues. Four IT program managers and eight IT project managers were talked to on a variety of IT project governance issues. The frameworks were developed based on a combination of literature, experts (IT project and program managers of the telecom industry in Ghana) input, observation, and so on. The governance frameworks depicts project management processes, project activities, project governance activities, roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders, key milestones, approval bodies, signatures, and so on, to ensure successful delivery of IT projects.

The productivity and profitability paradox in IT investments literature have made the work of IT ... more The productivity and profitability paradox in IT investments literature have made the work of IT managers very difficult in justifying for IT investments. Another difficult issue to grapple with by IT managers is how to measure or evaluate intangible benefits. These problems have led to the proposition of many IT evaluation frameworks/models and methods by researchers. This works aims to review a number of these frameworks/models and methods to see the way forward in this business of IT investments justification. About 40 categories/sets of research outputs or articles out of more than 50 articles reviewed were used for this work. The results showed that tangible benefits are not enough to justify for IT investments as they mostly point to corporate benefits which are short term, and that the justification of intangible benefits which are more strategic, must be included to make the justification process complete no matter how difficult it is. Again, no evaluation framework/model with its associated methods of evaluation is a panacea to the evaluation problem; evaluation depends on so many factors, and so is contextual. Also, the firm must factor into the evaluation process its corporate and strategic objectives. Lastly, in most cases, IT evaluation is seen as a must do, and therefore does not require that justification is done.

This is the make or break stage of the whole merger and acquisition process. The study was basically a review of literature on the various strategies that are employed at this stage of the merger and acquisition process. It was aimed at finding the strategies that are most appropriate for all situations. At the end of the day, it was concluded that no one strategy stands tall, and that the appropriate strategy depends on a number of factors such as type of the deal, cultural differences, sizes of the firms involved, human resources available, motive/s for the merger/acquisition, environmental/industry uncertainties, competition, profits envisaged, complementarity, compatibility, and so on. It was also concluded that success at the end of the day will in most of the time depend ...

The general objective of this work was to contribute to the general body of knowledge and researc... more The general objective of this work was to contribute to the general body of knowledge and research work in the area of managing IT projects successfully. To achieve the general objective, the research was aimed at exploring the reasons why most IT projects fail from past literature, and come out with the most prevalent causes of failure, and then develop a framework to help manage IT projects successfully. The assumption this work was dependent on was that once the prevalent causes of failure are known, then conversely, we can propose what should be done to deliver IT projects successfully. This work only deals with secondary data, primarily from journal articles and newsletters of IT based institutions. About 32 categories/sets of research outputs were used as literature base for the analysis. No primary data was employed for this work. It was found out that for an IT project to be delivered successfully, there are four areas that are so critical: Skills of project manager/team members, Top Management Involvement, Proper Methodology/Processes, and Good Communication. This represents the success factors dimension. It was discovered that the success of IT projects depends so much primarily on the activities of the initiating stage followed by the planning stage, and then the executing, monitoring and controlling stage, and finally, closing stage. This represents the process dimension. A framework depicting all these was developed.

This objective was accomplished by finding the correlation between any two of profitability non-ratio parameters such as NP, EBIT and so on and the correlation between any two of profitability ratio parameters such as NPM, ROA and so on. Trend analysis of all the ratio and non-ratio parameters was also done and the impact of assets, liabilities and revenue on NP, EBIT and GP were accessed. At the industry level, revenue increased 5 times by 2006, taking 2002 as base year. TA and NA increased 4 times each from 2002 to 2006. This was again shown by the perfect positive correlations that existed between the following pairs: NA and ROA, ROE and ROA and DE and DAR. Shareholders' equity increased with industry assets proportionately from 2002 to 2006. Industry NP increased considerably from 2002 to 2006. NPM also increased considerably from 2002 to 2005 and dipped in 2006. SB increased 13 times by 2006 with 2002 as base year. It was also found that SB correlates with the following parameters with correlation coefficient greater than 0.8: NP, TR, EBIT, TA and NA. Only TL recorded a negative correlation with SB with coefficient of-0.98. At the firm level, it was revealed that NCL had so much impact on NP. This information could be used by prospective investors, policy makers and the Government to make informed decisions about the industry.

Marketers in the industry are employing variety of relationship marketing tactics to attract and retain customers. This research study adopted four relationship marketing tactics (service quality, price perception, brand image and value offered) typical of a service industry and examined their impact on customer loyalty in the Ghanaian mobile industry. A self-completion questionnaire with a total of 40 closed questions was developed to gather field data. All of the items were measured by using a five-point Likert-type response scales, defined with 5 as strongly agree and 1 as strongly disagrees. Reliability test and some parametric and non-parametric tests were conducted and the results showed that there exist a positive significant relationship between each of the four relationship marketing tactics (namely service quality, price, value offered and brand image) and customer loyalty. The results are consistent with evidence in the extant literature. The study provides insight and significant feedback from mobile phone users to the telecommunication operators. As the competitive environment increasingly becomes fierce, the voice and preferences of the customers are also becoming the priority. This finding is expected to serve as a guide and help to telecommunication managers in making informed judgment about the relationship marketing mix relevant to the present customer's need that yields increase in revenue and profit.

Mobile subscriber base in Ghana grew from 215928 to 4966797, or approximately by 2300.21% from 2001 to 2006 (calculated from data taken from Ghana’s National Communications Authority website www.nca.org.gh). This represents huge IT investments made over the years. As to whether this investment resulted in the performance of these companies or not is what this study tried to unravel. The study came out with a diagrammatical model to explain the dynamics of IT investments covering from the factors that necessitates IT investments to the performance of these investments. This piece of work is purposely meant for all managers, IT professionals, and engineers who take decisions in organizations, government institutions, as well as educational institutions pertaining to Information Technology investments. It will help them make informed decisions, and also to maximize the performance of IT investments once they are made. It deals with how to maximize performance of IT investments in a typical organizational setting.

Social media provides university students with a convenient platform to create and share educational content. However, social media may have an addicting effect that may lead to poor health, poor concentration in class, poor time management and consequently poor academic performance. Using a random sample of 623 students from the University of Professional Studies Accra, Ghana, this paper presents a social media influence factor (SMIF) model for measuring the effect of social media on student academic performance. The proposed model is examined using linear regression analysis and the results show a statistically significant negative relationship between SMIF variables and student grade point average (GPA). The model accounted for 30.7% of the variability in student GPA and it demonstrated a prediction quality of 55.4% given the data collected.

This has triggered an urgent response to develop Optical Clinic ManagementSystem (OCMS) to address the limitation of the existing system. This intervention would promote the good health and well-being of humankind to meet the Sustainable Development Goals 3 (SDGs 3).METHODS: The study proposed a Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM) approach in Software Engineering as acatalyst to design OCMS to capture patients’ up-to-date records for medical diagnosis. The system is to assist Clinicians toprescribe medications based on a patient’s medical history by clicking a computer button.RESULTS: The limitations discovered during systems analysis and design of the existing systems were addressed duringsystem evaluation and testing. It was observed that the proposed optical clinic management systems received a 98% acceptancefor the implementation.CONCLUSION: This study explores the problem facing clinic and hospital administration and established major factorsaffecting the existing systems. It was discovered that the paper-based management systems used to keep patients’ medicalrecords were found to be unreliable and therefore unsafe to be used as the basis to prescribe medication for patients, hence theneed for this comprehensive system to address the problem for effective health care delivery. The situation in the existing systemincidentally led to misplaced and unstructured handling of patient clinical records that may inadvertently make the cliniciansadminister medications with no reference to the patient’s previous diagnosis due to the lost file. Hence, the aftermath of theCovid-19 pandemic and its global destruction of human lives should motivate African leaders to invest adequate resources inthe development of information technology applications for robust health information systems to improve health care delivery in Africa

This paper also examined the changes of monthly Ozone layer surface depletion from January to July 2010 over Africa due to NO2 emission and shows that higher NO2 emission concentration was found in the Tema Industrial Area and Agbogbloshie areas in Accra. The sources were identified and their evolution increased in the following order of years, October 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2013. Hence, to reduce the effect, the paper proposed a Biological Nitrogen Fixation (BNF) mathematical model for Accra using ecosystem capturing technology and CO2 capturing technology for factories as well as reducing of human activities like deforestation in Ghana.
