a sudden death

This is a depressing topic so if you're looking for some blog that brightens your day. This is not for you. I just want to get my feelings out...

Life is too short. You wouldn't know if this day would be your last. A former highschool classmate of mine, with other six, died from a vehicular accident. Their van collided with a passenger bus on their way home. My coworkers at work were the first to go to the site to give firs aid. Their accounts of the site were morbid. Their van was smashed into a pulp!! The bodies were mangled!

In my highschool, there were only two classroom for each year with ,at most, 50 students. It is not surprising to know everyone of our year because we've been together for 4 years! I've seen his change from a gangly 13 year old to a well-built 17. From being the innocent boy to not so innocent guy. I am not a close friend to this classmate but knowing of his death affects me. We , with my other batchmates, had plans for a highschool reunion and it is saddening to think that we won't be complete for the event.

His death made me think of our mortality. Yes, we know we will die sooner or later but are we prepared for it? I sometimes think if it is better to die with a sickness because that way you can have everything settled. You can say your goodbyes properly and apologize to people you've hurt. Dying unexpectedly hurts more, I think. I've seen families prepare for the death of a loved one. They were appraised of the situation and many would give their last kiss, hug, love to them but unfortunately, for my classmate, his family wasn't able to do that. He left his home planning to return and return he did but in a casket...May he rest in peace.
