A fever dream of impressive for the era practical visuals effects strung together by a paper thin plot. It feels like a bunch of visual effects nerds put a lot of love into making it and it still shows. I do fully understand the nostalgia factor for most people but to me The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are both objectively better films in the genre that have aged more gracefully.
Fun and a bit dumb with a lot of interesting vibes and cool visuals.
I’m a sucker for fiction set in “the real world” with hidden mystical elements so I’ve always liked this film. It actually reminds me a lot of another Keanu film series ‘John Wick’ in its secret unseen by regular people world building.
Funny coincidence that I just rewatched Constantine around its 20th anniversary. The VFX holds-up surprisingly well. I’m glad Constantine has reached “cult” status.
A fun dumb blockbuster that plays it too safe and relies too heavily on fan service, nothing special or offensive. The main cast do wonderful job in spite of the script’s shortcomings.
Starts out a little A.D.D. for the first act and rushes a big reveal that could have been saved for more dramatic impact later in the film.
Sadly no iconic fight scene akin to the “red room” in TLJ even though the Knights of Ren finally get some…
