Winter Magic

My page today was inspired by a tiny snowperson that we found on a windowsill in Prague. The snowperson was so cute and magical that I created this page to remember discovering them (smile!).

To see how it all came together, please check out this short video, which is about a minute long. Here’s the link to my YouTube channel Let’s Art Journal so, if you wish, you can like this video and subscribe to my channel.

This tutorial shows the essentials of how I created this art journal page taking a step-by-step approach that I used using Distress Paint, acrylic paint, Stamperia paper, recycled white tissue paper, Liquitex matte gel medium, Tim Holtz Ephemera and Thinlits, Stamperia Rub-ons, Finnabair stamp, Ranger Archival Ink, Studio Light chipboard wording, markers, gel pen, Crafter’s Companion glue tape pen and Liquitex acrylic ink.

Here’s the cute snowperson that we found whilst exploring a new area of Prague, it had snowed that day but not settled on the ground, so it was so magical to see them sitting on this windowsill (smile!).

As it was cold, we enjoyed some delicious Beef Noodle soup at a local Brewery; this soup is cooked with beef broth and tender beef, lots of vegetables, and thin egg noodles. As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m also sharing my gingerbread beer from Andělský Brewery, which was the favourite beer of our trip – Happy T Day!

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Happy and creative wishes! x

Seasonal Wishes

It wouldn’t be Christmas without using my favourite Merry Moose Thinlits by Tim Holtz, so inspired by the Christmas trees, architecture and decorations that we saw when we visited Prague recently … here’s Merry Moose celebrating the holiday season one snowy starry night (smile!).

I hope you have a lovely Christmas and wishing you a very Happy New Year!

I started by recycling some tissue papers sticking them in place using a glue stick and Liquitex matte gel medium; for the sky I used starry tissue paper and for the foreground white tissue paper which I scrunched up to add some snowy texture. Next I added the moon using a stencil/template set, stencilling white acrylic paint and then when dry, I stamped some texture over the top using Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. I stamped the houses and trees along the horizon line using Black Soot Distress Ink and added some of the same ink to the sky and foreground using a baby wipe; a special thank you to Vicki for the stamp, which she kindly sent me some years ago. Then I used a brayer to add some white gesso over the page. The Christmas tree was recycled and fussy cut from an old Christmas card and then I added my die cut Merry Moose; which I heat embossed using Antique Gold Stampendous Enamel Powder and Gold Ranger Embossing Powder. To finish, I added the parcel stickers and splattered the page with white acrylic paint for a snowy effect.

We often visit Prague this time of year, I find myself very thankful for all the wonderful memories we have of our time there. This is the Old Town Square where you’ll find an amazing Christmas market and buildings of various architectural styles. The Gothic church in the centre is Church of Our Lady before Týn and is a well-known landmark.

Prague is a magical place especially when it snows (smile!).

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing these pretty kitty cat mugs that we saw in one of the many florist shops in Prague; I automatically thought of Bleubeard & Elizabeth when I saw them. I’m saying a big hello and welcome to the T Gang and wishing you all a very Happy T Day this Christmastime!

Hoping that you are all staying safe and well, Merry Christmas and wishing you peace, health and happiness for 2025! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Vintage Christmas Panels

It’s time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

For this challenge, I’m sharing this Santa Claus from a series of vintage Christmas designed panels; these could be attached to a card, joined together to create a journal or just displayed as they are – I just can’t decide, what do you think?

I had fun creating a few of these, using different ephemera and wording for each one.

This joy to the world design features a little robin …

… and this Toy Shop design features a rocking horse (smile!).

To see how I created these panels, please check out this short video, which is under a minute long; it shows the Toy Shop design featuring a rocking horse and at the end you’ll also see the other designs, featuring Santa Claus and another featuring a robin, that I created using the same approach (smile!).
