LendEDU (“LendEDU,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information when you visit or use our websites, applications, content, account features, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
This Privacy Policy is intended for individuals located in the United States. Our Services are intended only for U.S. residents.
1. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect directly from you, automatically from your use of the Services, from our service providers and business partners, and from other third parties in connection with the Services.
Some parts of the Services may be powered by third-party service providers on our behalf, including white-labeled account features. In those cases, we may collect some information directly, while other information may be collected, stored, hosted, or processed primarily by service providers supporting the feature for us. We may also receive limited outputs, account metadata, service status information, and similar information needed to operate, support, personalize, secure, and improve the Services.
2. Personal Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of personal information, depending on how you interact with the Services:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
· your name;
· email address;
· mailing or physical address, if you choose to provide it or if needed for a specific feature;
· account login credentials or authentication information;
· information you submit through forms, surveys, reviews, support requests, contests, or promotional activities; and
· any other information you choose to provide to us.
2.2 Information Collected for Account-Based Features
If you register for a logged-in experience or use credit-related features, additional information may be collected or processed in connection with identity verification, eligibility screening, fraud prevention, account administration, and the delivery of those features.
LendEDU seeks to minimize the sensitive personal information it stores directly. For that reason, portions of the logged-in experience may be supported by a third-party service provider acting on our behalf. In that setup, much of the sensitive personal information needed to provide the feature may be collected, stored, or processed primarily by that provider rather than directly by LendEDU.
Depending on the feature, this may include information such as:
· date of birth;
· phone number;
· partial or full Social Security number;
· identity verification information;
· credit profile or consumer-report-related information;
· monitoring alerts or dispute-related activity; and
· other information needed to provide the requested feature.
Although LendEDU may not directly retain the full set of underlying sensitive information associated with these features, we may receive limited information related to the feature, such as account status, authentication status, service messages, alert status, recommendation inputs, marketing segments, product-interest signals, identifiers, or similar outputs needed to administer the experience.
When you are logged in, LendEDU may also associate clicks, page views, ad interactions, and similar activity within the logged-in experience with your account or profile. We may use that information within LendEDU to personalize on-platform content, offers, recommendations, and marketing communications.
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information, such as:
· device identifiers;
· browser type and operating system;
· IP address;
· approximate geolocation derived from IP address;
· referral URLs;
· pages viewed and links clicked;
· search terms and interactions with content;
· advertising interactions;
· session information; and
· cookie, pixel, tag, SDK, and similar technology data.
2.4 Information from Partners and Other Third Parties
We may receive information about you from advertising partners, analytics providers, affiliate networks, identity verification vendors, fraud prevention vendors, service providers, and other business partners.
We may also receive information from the third-party provider supporting our white-labeled credit-related experience, including information about account setup, authentication, usage, eligibility, recommendations, alerts, or feature engagement.
Except as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, LendEDU does not disclose personally identified interaction data from your logged-in experience to advertising partners merely because you clicked, viewed, or engaged with content or ads within your account.
3. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information for the following purposes:
· to provide, maintain, operate, and improve the Services;
· to create and manage accounts;
· to authenticate users and verify identity;
· to provide requested content, tools, and account-based features;
· to communicate with you about your account, the Services, updates, notices, and support matters;
· to send newsletters, marketing communications, and promotional materials, subject to applicable law and your choices;
· to personalize content, advertising, offers, and recommendations;
· to associate clicks, views, and interactions within the logged-in experience with your account and use that information to personalize on-platform content, offers, recommendations, and marketing communications from LendEDU;
· to facilitate affiliate tracking, attribution, and reporting;
· to analyze usage and performance of the Services;
· to detect, investigate, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful or illegal activity;
· to comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms, policies, and other rights; and
· for other purposes disclosed at the time of collection or with your consent.
4. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:
4.1 Service Providers
We may disclose personal information to vendors and service providers that perform services for us, such as hosting, analytics, marketing, customer support, email delivery, identity verification, fraud prevention, security, and account-related infrastructure.
This includes the third-party service provider that powers all or part of our white-labeled credit monitoring, credit score, credit report, or related account experience.
4.2 Advertising, Analytics, and Affiliate Partners
We may disclose limited information to advertising platforms, analytics providers, affiliate networks, marketing partners, and similar parties to measure campaign performance, attribute referrals, improve marketing, and deliver more relevant advertising or offers.
4.3 Financial Providers and Business Partners
If you choose to click through to, request information from, or otherwise engage with a financial product or service offered by a third party, we may disclose personal information or interaction data needed to facilitate that request, referral, lead submission, or relationship.
4.4 Legal, Compliance, and Protection Purposes
We may disclose personal information if we believe doing so is necessary or appropriate to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect our rights or property, protect users or the public, investigate misconduct, or enforce our agreements.
4.5 Corporate Transactions
We may disclose personal information in connection with an actual or proposed merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar corporate transaction.
4.6 With Your Direction or Consent
We may disclose personal information to other parties when you direct us to do so or consent to the disclosure.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our partners may use cookies, pixels, web beacons, SDKs, local storage, and similar technologies to remember preferences, keep you signed in, understand usage patterns, measure advertising effectiveness, and personalize content and ads.
You may be able to manage certain cookie preferences through your browser settings or any cookie tools we make available on the Services. Blocking some cookies may affect site functionality.
6. Personalized Advertising
We may use personal information and activity information to show you content, advertisements, or product offers that may be more relevant to you, including in connection with the logged-in experience.
The offers or ads shown to you may be based on information such as your interactions with our Services, broad audience characteristics, account-related signals, or information received from partners and service providers. We do not guarantee that any offer is available to you or appropriate for your circumstances.
7. Data Minimization and Third-Party Powered Features
We seek to minimize the personal information LendEDU stores directly, especially in connection with sensitive credit-related features.
For portions of the logged-in experience, sensitive personal information may be collected, stored, and processed primarily by a service provider supporting the feature on our behalf. Although the experience may appear within the LendEDU environment, LendEDU may not itself retain the full set of personal information needed to provide those features.
Even where LendEDU does not directly store the underlying sensitive information, we may receive and use associated outputs and related information needed to administer and improve the feature and broader user experience, such as service status information, alert information, account metadata, recommendation inputs, and product-interest or marketing signals.
8. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and prevent fraud.
Because some data associated with white-labeled account features may be stored primarily by service providers, retention periods for certain data elements may be determined in part by those providers’ operational, legal, or compliance requirements.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Choices
Depending on how you interact with the Services, you may have the following choices:
· Marketing emails: You may unsubscribe from promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in those messages.
· Account information: You may be able to update certain account information through your account settings or by contacting us.
· Cookies and tracking: You may be able to control certain tracking technologies through browser settings or any consent tools we provide.
You may still receive transactional, service, security, or legal communications even if you opt out of promotional messages.
11. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18 for account-based services. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information in violation of applicable law, please contact us.
12. Third-Party Sites and Services
The Services may link to websites, applications, and services operated by third parties. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information to them.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice by posting the updated policy on the Services, by email, through your account, or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of the updated Privacy Policy indicates your acknowledgment of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by law.
