Ever opened a copy of one of the realm of chaos books when you were ten? Ever tried to own each and everyone of the Jes Goodwin chaos champion? Ever spent days lurking on ebay for a complete Kaleb Dark or chaos toilets?
You're at home here.
Welcome
Hey everyone ! So new year's all about good resolutions right ? Well there's one I clearly didn't realise last year and it pains me a fair bit : painting the whole Blackstone fortress content !
I had only painted one model so far, Janus Draik, and that was more than a year ago ! Yeah I know... So with a few lockdowns under the belt and probably a few more coming, I really want to up my coop game capacity and my interest for the game hasn't vanished so I need A PLAN.
So, robots... Robots are extremely cool period. Chaos is extremely cool as well period. Now Chaos robots are bound to be just super duper cool right ? Well they are.
See, I've had this Colossus wreck in the leadpile for ages and it was so damaged I just figured I could try and hack it to repose it with little risk.
Many will remember the "special" alternative AI programming rules for robots but I have to say I loved the many styles of them :
Now of course, the Colossus is extremely familiar to those who love the ABC warriors and their leader Hammerstein with his trademark hammer for hand :
Thing is though, I somehow lost tha hammer hand. And it looks silly let's face it, no elbow or anything ? Really ? Anyway I need my robot to feel corrupted so I tought some organic arm sprouting out of its shoulder would look cool and somehow reminiscent of something I LOVE (like Gooseflesh inducingly good :
So that's what I came up with :
The bloter is a modern era version for the simple reason I didn't have any other togive him, I felt like connecting teh weapon to the frame with a sick organic intestin would convey the sense of fresh corruption I was after :
In my quest to cover as many entries for this army little force (I don't do armies you know), I'm quite chuffed to have this one covered, this makes the need of a few techmarines even greater now but evrything in its own time I guess !
You probably know how some projects have the ability to jump to the top of the queue in the most unexpectedly way ? Well that happened during lockdown when looking for an astropolis fleet officer, I realised I had all those little robots who could be done in little time and boost my mojo.
Robots, probably one of the most evocative subjects... they do everything we do far much better than we could, they're smarter, stronger, more resilient ad they speak with such awesome voices (when not simply making 'bips') that just looking at them makes you jealous not to have been born on Cybertron.
You may remember that a little while ago (well last year), I posted about robots in Rogue trader...
Hey there...
And at that time I had built the basis for a scratchbuilt hoverbot :
Well, thanks to constant reminders from Christian B. on the Facebook Oldhammer community page, I finally took the time to finish that model that had sat half basecoated for months in front of me ion the painting range.
When people think about Rogue trader robots, they often think about the imperial set of robots :
This range and the rules that accompanied them in WD are well renowned, especially for that "robot phase" where the Robot's behavior was decribed by a set of "Goto" commands which made it VERY long to play.
But this time I'm going back a little further and will be considering robots as portrayed in Rogue trader.
