So let me get this straight:
  • We got Obama for four more years.

  • Elizabeth Warren in the Senate.

  • Gay marriage by popular vote in 3 states.

  • Homophobic "traditional marriage" laws voted down in another state.

  • The first openly gay Senator.

  • The first openly bisexual congresswoman.* (MY DISTRICT, Y'ALL.)

  • Sexist rape apologists kicked out of Congress.

  • The first Asian-American woman in the Senate.

  • The first disabled female veteran in the Senate, who also happens to be a person of color.

  • The first Hindu in Congress, also a woman.

  • DREAM Act passed in Maryland.

Am I missing anything? (Not counting Puerto Rico because they may have voted "yes" to being a state, but Congress still has to actually make that happen.)

* - Technically, the race has not been called yet. Kyrsten Sinema has maintained a steady lead throughout, though, and it's continuing to grow as more votes are counted.

Conservative religious whackjobs boycotting JCPenney and Disneyland, and pulling official strings to try to prevent Islamic community centers from being built is the work of responsible citizens protecting the Constitution and the American Way…

But boycotting Chick Fil-A and denying them building permits is an  ATTACK ON FREE SPEECH AND RELIGIOUS FREEDOM ZOMG FIRST AMENDMENT FIRST AMENDMENT FIRST AMENDMENT?

Side-eyeing and judging the people who ate there today SO hard right now.

No, I haven't given up. >.>;;

This one put up one hell of a fight.  Re-reading and re-recording OVER AND OVER AGAIN (seriously - 8 tries, y'all) because:
A.)  I have a just-plain-noisy computer and for some reason this time around, editing that out without ruining the reading was FUN omg fml.
B.)  No matter how many takes I did, I couldn't get it to sound quite the way I felt it should in terms of tone and characters.  I guess you could say I'm still struggling to find the characters' voices.

After putting it on hold for months on end because of IRL stuff, I finally just sat down, recorded one last time and decided that for better or worse, that was the take I'd use...and then decided to use the next-to-last one after all.  ^^;;

So, without further ado...

So, erm.  Yeah.

I kindasorta started a tumblr a long time ago in the spirit of "TEE HEE THIS IS FUN but it'll never replace LJ"...and then LJ just kept failing harder and harder, and tumblr kind of Ate My Online Life.  SO, in the better part of the past year or so, I've set up shop almost exclusively over there.

If you don't have a tumblr account, it's free.  The site takes a bit of getting used to, but it's awesome.  Srsly.

To be clear: I'M NOT LEAVING LJ ALTOGETHER. I'll still be over here and you can always get in touch with me here.  However, most of my use for it these days is going to be as a private diary.  I'm not planning on going back and locking down all of my old entries, and I'll still post things publicly from time to time, but for the most part?  This is more of an archive and less where the action is.

I'm just going to put out this PSA:

Livejournal Scrapbook is going away and will be replaced by the mysterious "Photo Album". Your 10GB of Paid Member space is now 2GB. If you care, there is an explanation in Russian on the Russian news page. There's also a user-submitted translation.

+ You will no longer have access to your Scrapbook once this goes live.
+ Your images will redirect, but the URL will be different.
+ Unable to tell what will happen to any photos you have that put you over the 2GB limit.
+ Back up your Scrapbook just in case.
+ If you want your photos transferred over now instead of waiting, let them know here.

1.)  Stay far, far away from the Baileys - that shit is ADDICTIVE.  I could drink it straight and love it, and I think it's a testament to my self-control that I haven't completely drained our small bottle that we got for hot chocolate last night.

2.)  Send a very strongly-worded letter to whoever thought of the name Irish Car Bomb for a mixed drink.

Srsly - that shit's offensive as hell.  If any frat-boy douches here in the US actually went over to Ireland and asked for that in a pub, they'd get their asses kicked and they'd deserve it.  That's like going to New York City and ordering a Bin Laden.

Rush Limbaugh Calls Student Who Testified To Congress About Prohibitive Birth Control Costs 'Slut'

"What does it say….that she essentially says that she must be paid to have sex. What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex, she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the tax payers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? The pimps."

A.) THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS, MORON.

No matter how much sex you have, you still do ONE pill a day/one shot a month/one IUD every 5 years/etc.  Even if she were having NO sex she'd be taking the same dosage, and B.) how dare you call her a slut when you've been caught with non-prescribed Viagra your own damn self?

Responsible consensual sex between adults is not wrong, and a woman is not a walking incubator.  If you're entitled to your pharmaceutically-enhanced erections (which, might I add, tend to be covered by insurance), we're entitled to unoccupied uterii.

If you are going to do this, you need to do it before March 1st. It has been said that users will not be able to do anything about this after that date.

With reference to Google's policy changes and how everything you do with your Google account will be tied together into their super-cauldron of information, you will probably want to clear your Google Web History out - if you turned that feature on - before month's end. After that, you won't be able to clear it, and everything you search for will be connected with your account.

To check settings and/or clear out your Web History:

1. Go to Google. If you aren't signed in already, do so.
2. In the top right-hand corner you'll find your email address or name, perhaps an icon if you have a Plus account, and a little downward facing arrow. Click on the arrow and a menu will pop up.
3. Click to 'Account Settings'. This will take you to a page called 'Accounts'. (If you have a Plus account, you might go via a Plus sign-in page.)
4. Scroll down to a section called 'Services'. Here you'll find an option called 'View, enable, or disable web history', which has a link next to it. Click on the link.
5. If you never turned web history on, you'll get a page asking if you want to turn this service on. Just click 'No Thanks' and all is good. If you did turn it on, you should have a list of your searches. At the top there is a button that says 'Remove All History'. Click this and follow the instructions which will remove all items from your Web History and pause the feature so nothing else will be added in future.

Also, you can completely remove Web History as a service from your account by clicking THIS LINK, checking the tick-box and confirming you want to remove Web History. To be safe, it is probably best to do the steps above first to remove any history that might have already been collected.

So.

More bpal reviews from when I treated myself this last time.

ROSE RED 2011
The perfected winter rose, dew covered and freshly cut.

This one's a companion/counterpoint scent to Snow White, and equally as popular - it's become another signature oil from the company's Yule collections, always in high demand every winter it's put out.

Kinda obligatory that I try it.Collapse )

Amsterdam
Tulips, peony, fresh flowing water and crisp green grasses.

This is (along with Rose Red, which I also got a sample of) another of the trademark scents that the lab does - it's a Limited Edition that's in high demand every winter.

I'd space the reviews out a bit more, but I'm having to rush-test this lot because there's a limited amount of time left for me to decide whether to order full bottles or not.

Snow White
A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers.

This one's dangerous for my sweet tooth.Collapse )

Also?  Bits of the very last dry-down stage of Frost At Midnight are still clinging to the inside of my elbow, even AFTER showering.  O_O;;  It's a good thing I liked it!

...aaaaaaaaaaaand it's time for Sherlock now.
