
Andrew Brennan
I am emeritus professor of philosophy, and from 2016 to 2023 served as the Ombudsman for La Trobe University. From 2006 to 2015, II was professor of philosophy and from 2008 also pro vice-chancellor of graduate research.
Before coming to Melbourne in 2006 I was for fourteen years professor and chair of philosophy at the University of Western Australia. I was reader in philosophy at the University of Stirling in Scotland from 1989 to 1999 and lecturer in philosophy at the same University from 1970. Between 1999 and 2002, I held visiting professorships at the University of Oslo, and the City University of Hong Kong. I also taught annually for many years in the Human Ecology program, Free University of Brussels (VUB).
After gaining a double honours degree in moral philosophy and logic and metaphysics at the University of St Andrews, I did graduate work in philosophy at the University of Calgary and also at Oxford University.
