It is incontrovertible to assert that the grammar- translation method has over the years made a remarkable success and that through it millions of people have successfully acquired foreign languages attaining high degree of proficiency. Emphasis is basically placed on the teaching of grammatical rules and observable exceptions and translation of texts. Learners are expected to memorise the grammatical rules and selected texts on translation in an attempt to master the morphology and syntax of the language. This method has held sway in most African countries where colonisation was preponderant for very many years.
The main thrust of this paper however is to examine the constraints of the grammar-translation method highlighting with the aid of empirical examples its shortcomings to which learners of foreign languages are susceptible.
De même, les objectifs primordiaux visent à inciter des sensations égales dans deux ou plusieurs langues et cultures car le jugement de valeur ainsi que la pensée du lectorat visé dans la LC doivent être les mêmes sentiments que chez le lectorat de la LS. Il faut tenir compte des valeurs culturelles pour traduire un texte littéraire doté de folklores, de contes, de proverbes, de salutations et la reconnaissance de tous les problèmes posés.
La visée de cet article consiste à examiner l'importance et la problématique de la culture dans la traduction à travers un registre de salutations dans la langue yorouba. En plus, la traduction ainsi que les valeurs contextuelles desdites salutations dans la LS (yorouba) seront évoquées en fonction de sa tradition.
Mots clés : formation, compétence, besoin langagier, profession, mobilité
Notre communication s’oriente effectivement vers l’opération de la traduction automatique pour le traitement des textes en soulevant ses qualités et ses défaillances.
The main thrust of a translation exercise is to incite equal sensations in both the source language and target language through coherent, contextual and equivalent meaning - a salient feature to be reckoned with in the translation of textual materials.
How does machine translation treat faux amis in translations given the fact that every translation is context-dependent? Do we have recourse to human intervention by doing a post editing and perfecting the machine translation of documents?
This article aims at identifying and examining the semantic mismatches of texts that the machine translation of faux amis are inevitably susceptible to create during a translation process.
