fingers gonna fing.

Living in China is kind of like being on the island from Lost. Time doesn't move right here. It's easy to be isolated and not realize it until two years have passed.

between me and you...Collapse )

When I remember how far away I am, too far off and up to the side somewhere away from most of you, that's when I feel homesick.

You guys. You should add me on tumblr if you haven't already. I reblog weird stuff, Teen Wolf things, Fallout Boy things, and pretty pictures. Sometimes those pictures are of me.

But seriously, lets hang, people. I miss so many of your faces.

Meaningless flattery is kind of a think here in China. Like, apparently it's just part of the culture? And somehow that is one of the most frustrating things I have to deal with during my stay here. It honestly makes me a little crazy.

Especially when people compliment my Mandarin skills. Probably that sounds weird but let me show you how it's happening.

In an elevator

Chinese person (who happens to be by the buttons): Which floor?

Me: Twelve.

Chinese person: Oh wow! You speak Chinese very well!

And I think the reason it bugs me so much isn't just the insincerity, but also the fact that I'm actually learning the language. I know what I sound like. I'm not saying people have to give me concrit, you could just not say anything at all. I wouldn't be offended.

This post is brought to you today by the fact that I have class in 2 hours. :D

Have you missed pictures of my feet?

I basically hoard femme things like a dragon hoards gold. My closet is full of the most sparkly, pretty things that China has to offer. Half of my clothes are officially skirts and dresses. Yet somehow I still manage to wear the same 4 pairs of jeans with t-shirts. I guess I feel like I don't have a reason to wear that stuff. I'm not sure why I need a reason.

I used to see pictures like this all the time, and now I'm taking them. Freaky.

now and then

Firefox keeps wanting to correct 'languisity' to 'singularity' or 'angularity' which feels weirdly apt, but I couldn't tell you why.

Lately, I've felt like I don't fit into the same people or places anymore. Or that they don't fit into me they way they used to (which is the same, only not quite). And I know it's not all the distance's fault, but I feel like it's made it more... noticeable. Something like that. I think it was a long time coming.

Anyway, I really just like this picture.

My top 5 most used Chinese phrases:

1. What do you call this in Chinese?

2. How much is this?

3. That's too expensive!

4. Sorry, I don't know how to speak Chinese very well.

5. No, I'm American. ...Really!
