Our Story
Treeverse was founded in 2020 by Oz Katz and Dr. Einat Orr after decades of grappling with the realities of scaling data. Despite data becoming the backbone of modern AI and ML environments, the systems to manage it haven’t kept pace, leaving teams stuck with fragile pipelines, inconsistent data states, and the costly burden of duplicating entire data lakes just to stay operational. They believed there had to be a better way.
That belief led to lakeFS: a data version control system
built to bring the rigor of software engineering to the world
of data. By introducing Git-like operations for data lakes, lakeFS enables teams to experiment with data, effectively collaborate, confidently promote changes, and easily troubleshoot and recover from errors.
What started as a fix for a deeply-felt problem quickly resonated across the industry and today, lakeFS powers data workflows for thousands of organizations around the world.
