Corporate social responsibility, or CSR, refers to the concern that an organization shows for economic, social, environmental and ethical issues by considering these aspects in its activities and decisions. Such considerations have broader impacts, particularly in terms of economic benefits, governance, sustainable development and contributions to the organization’s society.
Since it was founded in 1983, Les Producteurs de lait du Québec has shown leadership in the dairy industry by fostering its development and prosperity. Through collective efforts and agricultural unionism, it promotes supply management and collective marketing. In addition, the organization has succeeded in gaining more recognition for producers’ contributions to the overall welfare of Quebec society.
Through its sponsorship program, the PLQ supports key events in Quebec society and, through its milk donation program, the organization takes actions to assist citizens grappling with food shortages, help eliminate hunger, and improve food security for Quebecers.
Finally, because Quebec producers share the same concerns as their fellow citizens, they are also sensitive to animal welfare and environmental issues.
