KUPOCON GLOSSARY
Al Bhed Salvage Yard
Like its namesake scavengers, the Al Bhed Salvage Yard is where treasures from earlier KupoCon generations resurface. From end-of-line merchandise to rare memorabilia, it offers attendees a chance to uncover relics thought long gone.
ATE (Active Time Event)
When the chime of an Active Time Event sounds, a surprise is about to unfold. These spontaneous, Final Fantasy–inspired mini-games invite attendees to jump in, earn rewards, and embrace a little chaos. You never know what might happen next, but there’s fun and fortune for the bold.
Bank of Mog
The Bank of Mog is where adventurers claim the fruits of their quests. Any tasks not tied to the Huntmaster can be turned in here for gil. Occasionally, the Bank and Huntmaster desks combine, creating a hub where adventurers can handle all their questing needs in one place.
Calm Lands
A designated area at KupoCon for relaxation and quiet. Attendees can take a break from the bustle, recharge, and enjoy a slower pace of the adventure. It’s a peaceful haven amidst the excitement of the event.
Ceremonies
KupoCon begins and ends with moments that define the experience. The Opening Ceremony sets the stage with energy and anticipation, often featuring special guests and announcements that mark the true start of the adventure. Soon after, the Cosplay Parade invites every costumed adventurer to step into the spotlight, no registration required. Finally, the Closing Ceremony brings the community together one last time, honouring achievements, sharing laughter, and bidding farewell until the next gathering.
Chocobo Badges
Chocobo Badges guide travelers through the convention. Yellow marks newcomers, signaling openness to conversation. Purple signals a need for patience or understanding, often for accessibility reasons. Available at Mognet Central, badges can be returned for a refund, kept as a collectible, or used at future events.
Chocolina’s
Much like the eccentric merchant of Final Fantasy XIII, Chocolina’s is the official shop of KupoCon. Here, you’ll find exclusive merchandise, event-specific items, TriPom cards, and other treasures unique to the convention. Purchases are made by cash or card only — gil is not accepted at this stall.
Charon’s
Charon’s holds some of the rarest treasures of KupoCon. These high-value items often require significant gil, completed Quest Logs, or collaborative effort among attendees to claim. It’s the place for adventurers seeking legendary rewards.
Community Day
Also known as Community and Franchise Day, this calmer chapter of KupoCon allows attendees to explore at a more relaxed pace. With the theatre replaced by Event Square, large party games, panels, buskers, and smaller competitions fill the day, creating a space for connection and casual adventure.
Event Square
Event Square gathers attendees for large-scale games and challenges. First introduced in earlier KupoCons, it has become a hub of laughter and camaraderie, where everyone can join in and celebrate the spirit of togetherness.
Gil
The lifeblood of adventure, gil appears in many forms (coins, notes, or coupons) and is unique to each KupoCon. It can be spent throughout the weekend at locations like O’aka’s Gil Exchange, Charon’s, or kept as a memento of the journey.
Guest Autograph Bundles
For those seeking encounters with special or featured guests, Guest Autograph Bundles offer autographs and selfies. Limited in number and often first offered to premium ticket holders, these bundles are treasured keepsakes for fans hoping to meet the cast.
Honey Bee Inn Program
Attendees booking through the official hotel link may receive gil rewards at select events. Proof of stay is shown at Mognet Central to claim the bonus. The program is a small thank-you from KupoCon for supporting the host hotel; KupoCon earns nothing from these bookings.
Hunts
Hunts challenge attendees to seek out cosplayers embodying characters listed in the Quest Log. Whether the task is snapping a photo or capturing a short video, the details vary by event. Completing a hunt will earn you gil or experience — but remember the cardinal rule of the realm: always ask for a cosplayer’s permission before taking a photo or video, and respect their answer. Cosplay is not consent.
King Mog & Queen Mog
The community nicknames for KupoCon’s organizers, Alex and Natalie Maine, are King Mog and Queen Mog. The origins are unclear, but the title quickly became a lighthearted inside joke and has since grown into part of KupoCon’s culture and lore.
Kinga
The Kinga, also known as the KupoConga, is KupoCon’s famous conga line tradition. It first came to life when John Campling, motion capture actor for King Regis, joined in an unforgettable dance that quickly became legend. Now, whenever Calling for Rain from Final Fantasy Kingsglaive begins to play, the Kinga awakens, bringing attendees together in rhythm, laughter, and a moment of pure joy.
Kupons
Kupons, a playful twist on “coupons”, are used at KupoCon events to grant attendees access to guest signings, ensuring encounters remain manageable and fair. Limited in number and based on the guest’s availability, these can be claimed from Mognet Central at no cost.
Mognet Central
Mognet Central is the beating heart of KupoCon’s services and the first stop for any questions. Like the moogle postmasters of lore, it’s where attendees go for information, gift drop-offs, add-on collections, and Moogle Mail opt-ins
O’aka’s Gil Exchange
Inspired by the enterprising O’aka XXIII, this is the prime destination for spending gil. Whether earned through loot, Quest Log turn-ins, or other activities, gil can be exchanged here for a wide variety of treasures.
Quest Log
The Quest Log guides adventurers through KupoCon. Packed with hunts, quests, achievements, and rewards, it helps attendees track progress, collect autographs, and create a lasting keepsake of their journey.
Quests
Quests are the heart of the Quest Log. Each begins with a note from the moogle who penned it, followed by a clear objective and reward. Complete these tasks throughout the event to earn gil. From simple tasks to elaborate adventures, they are opportunities to earn gil and memories alike.
Relic Exchange
The Relic Exchange invites attendees to trade trinkets with one another — stickers, TriPom cards, Warrior of Light emblems, or tokens that represent you. No gil is required; it’s a simple exchange of goodwill. This activity encourages friendship and connection, leaving you with unique keepsakes from fellow travelers on the same adventure.
Ring of Timely Assistance (RTA)
The RTA is KupoCon’s enhanced support system for attendees needing extra help during the event. Approved participants receive a card that provides extra accommodations, such as easier access to guests or alternative ways to enjoy activities. It’s designed to ensure everyone can fully enjoy the adventure.
Tokens of Masquerade
Each Quest Log contains Tokens of Masquerade, designed for attendees to give to cosplayers whose craftsmanship they admire. These tokens are a way of showing appreciation and recognition throughout the day. At the Closing Ceremony, the cosplayer who collects the most tokens is awarded the Nobleman Award, the people’s choice prize of KupoCon.
TriPom
TriPom, KupoCon’s collectible card game, takes inspiration from Triple Triad, with tournaments held at every event. Cards feature unique artwork and special Artist Series editions to celebrate contributors to the community.
TriPom Trader
For those seeking specific cards, the TriPom Trader offers singles and trading opportunities. Sealed products like Ultimate Boxes or Boosters are usually found at Chocolina’s, while the Trader is ideal for refining a personal collection.
Treasure Chest
At Mognet Central, the Treasure Chest is a trusted resource for adventurers in need. Inside, you’ll find cosplay repair supplies, basic first aid, and essential sanitary items. Simply ask, take what you need, and continue your journey with comfort and confidence.
Warrior of Light (WoL)
The Warrior of Light award honors an attendee who exemplifies the spirit of KupoCon. Chosen by staff without nomination and revealed at the Closing Ceremony, this title recognizes kindness, positivity, and dedication to the community.
