‘Children are the supremely important asset of the nation. Their nurture solicitude are our responsibility’, says National Policy for Children, 1974. India has the largest child population in the world. The Constitution of India guarantees Fundamental Rights to all children in the country and empowers State to make special provisions for the children. The Directive Principles of State Policy specifically direct the State to secure the tender age of children from abuse and to ensure that the children are given opportunities and facilities to develop in a healthy manner in the conditions of freedom and dignity.
Evelyn Beatrice Hall 1906

Despite having evolved one of the best Constitutions of the world, its implementation has been shoddy, full of aberrations and conjectures.
Converting wealth into well-being is not just a nice-to-have ideal. It is essential to harness the precious human resource for sustained progress in economic development, utilize resources for public wellbeing and instill a feeling of dignity and belongingness among the downtrodden to make a happy and healthy nation.
