I was driving in Oxnard the other day, down Rose Avenue. I turned on my turn signal and began to move to the right lane. As I moved I heard a honk. There was no car in my rear-view mirror, that I could see, but the honk had come from that direction so I shifted in my seat and looked again. There was a car, hidden from my view by the head rest in the back seat. There was quite a lot of distance between us, so no one was in danger. I politely moved back into the left lane, but I caught a glimpse of the driver's face. It was twisted with outrage.
When things like this happen, I avoid looking at the other person. Why do I want to see someone flipping me off? But about a mile later, I heard another honk and as I glanced back, I saw the same driver, raising her middle finger at me as she turned right.
