Boredom results in (gasp!) actual words on this otherwise barren profile.
So here’s me.
Kimberly. A girl. (Obviously.)
I have a job, no name. A car, Bertie. A computer, Rodney. An iPod, Charlie. A Shuffle, Dexter. A panda (synthetic), Colby. A fondness for naming inanimate objects.
I have a deep appreciation for movies, musicals, books, television, music, driving fast, chocolate chip cookies, the Food Network, chocolate milk, shoes, outerwear, rambling, and a whole slew of other things.
I have a phobia of snakes.
I write movie reviews when I feel strongly compelled, book reviews when the books are worth discussing in one way or another, and some tv reviews.
I am more than slightly obsessed with Stargate Atlantis and the first three seasons of House. Bobby Flay is my culinary hero. Crime shows rule my life.
I am also addicted to youtube.
I less than three the phrase ftw.
I...am a librarian!
And that’s me, in a nutshell. Or about all you’ll get here.
It also results in tagged entries...
This still holds true, but there are too many tags now. You'll find the handy dandy List O' Tags on the sidebar of my journal. Follow the links to your heart's content. Most entries made this year have been appropriately tagged. Most...
Indeed most of life escapes, now I come to think of it; the texture of the ordinary day. - Virginia Woolf, in a diary entry dated Tuesday, 15 April 1924 -
Fairy tales are meant to be nonsensical, that is part of their charm. - Amelia Peabody, The Curse of the Pharoahs (Elizabeth Peters)-
The next thing about the air in the library is that no other place smells anything like it. If you close your eyes and try to pick out what it is that you’re sniffing you’re only going to get confused, because all the smells have blended together and turned themselves into a different one. - Bud, Not Buddy (Christopher Paul Curtis) -
What is there about an English accent that makes people seem more intelligent than they maybe are? And was it catchy? - The View from Saturday (E.L. Konigsburg) –
I…lingered on, plunged in thought. Extraordinary how I kept doing that as of even date. It just shows what life is like now. I don’t suppose in the old days I would have been plunged in thought more than about once a month. – Jeeves & the Tie that Binds (P.G. Wodehouse) –
“Pardon me, your tie.” “What’s wrong with it?” “Everything, sir. If you will allow me.” “All right, go ahead. But I can’t help asking myself if ties really matter at a time like this.” “There is no time when ties do not matter, sir.” - Jeeves & the Tie that Binds (P.G. Wodehouse) –
Never fear, song lyrics are hear!
We're hearing Mike Post in the air this time! - Mike Post Theme, The Who -
Sweeping eggshells still at 3 am, we're trying far too hard. The tattered thought balloons above our heads sinking in the weight of all we need to say. Why's and what if's have since long played out, left us short on happy endings. - Now or Never, Josh Groban -
One last cry, the pain it can’t escape me ‘cause I hope that you might concede, somewhere in eternity you and me, are growing old together… - Condition of Despair, Randy Porter -
There's no such place. If I lower mine to your's would you kiss me on the face? If you're looking for an unmarked place, there's no such place. Blasted in appearance and a composite of fearful minutes, frozen in the waking instant. - There's No Such Place, Augie March -
Good night, Vienna. You city of a million...something or others. La la la la la la la la la la la, la la la la la, something else. - Good Night, Vienna, Bertie Wooster - (This is my kind of song, the one where the lyrics are a complete mystery!)
However I praise, however I puff, though you may smile it won't be enough. Right at the end when I start to bluff, an' the lift's going down an' I start acting tough. It's not enough, it's not enough. Whatever I give, it's never enough...I'll never hold you. How could I scold you? - It's Not Enough, The Who -
And I never want to let you down, forgive me if I slip away. Sometimes it's hard to find the ground. 'Cause I keep on falling as I try to get away from this crazy world. - February Song, Josh Groban -
Most graphics on this journal (and all graphics on this page) created by the amazingly talented and supremely awesome lifebecomesart. She wins at life.
She even makes graphics for me that no one else wants to use. Because she is just that cool. Like awesome icons for the highly under-appreciated television show Numb3rs.
“Not every story has a point. Sometimes you just bend spaghetti to watch it break.” (My favorite scene. Though, really. Why is there spaghetti in an FBI break room with no stove?)
If you haven’t been watching Numb3rs, you’ve missed out. Incomprehensible math, the FBI, a chick who kicks serious tooshie, more incomprehensible math, chase scenes, take downs, gun fights, a sprinkling more of incomprehensible math for good measure, crazy relationships, and lots of eye candy. What more could you ask for in a show?
"No, Larry. Even the FBI can't stop meteors."
I have a deep and abiding love for this icon. Chase, making a truly spectacular fashion statement. My default icon for a year (or more), I finally retired it in April 2007. But I miss it, so it will have a permanent home here. Enjoy the pretty! (Sort of.)
And this is why House is, quite possibly, the best show on television. A press conference turns into, well, this. *points down*
