The pandemic situation points out the need for unrestricted access to online electronic materials... more The pandemic situation points out the need for unrestricted access to online electronic materials, regardless of time or location, as long as individuals have internet connectivity. This study aims to investigate the usage of online e-resources and their significant role in providing information and the satisfaction level of the researchers during the pandemic period. The research was conducted by utilising online questionnaires, with a sample size of 105 participants. The findings demonstrated researchers' effective use of online electronic resources amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the survey, 73% of research scholars transitioned to using online e-resources during the COVID-19 epidemic. Most participants expressed satisfaction with the online electronic resources throughout the pandemic, mostly because of the convenient remote access options offered by the University Library. The primary challenges encountered by researchers while using online e-resources during the COVID-19 shutdown include sluggish internet connectivity (36%), exorbitant data subscription fees (32%), and a dearth of training programmes (22%).

Social media have revolutionised communication and information sharing, and its influence extends... more Social media have revolutionised communication and information sharing, and its influence extends to almost all fields of human life including education. This study explores the impact of social media usage among geology students in Kerala and its impact on their education. The study aims to determine whether and how far geology students make use of social media sites in their routine activities including academic purposes and to analyse the pros and cons of this trend. The survey indicated that 95.36% of respondents use social media to maintain relationships with friends and family. The most used social media site among geology students is WhatsApp. The study also reveals that males spend more time than females on social media, and those aged 21 to 24 are the most active on these platforms. Daily usage of social media is common among geology students. Students see time restrictions as their top challenge when it comes to making effective usage of social media for academic purpose. The study highlights the need for students to reduce their personal usage of social media and increase their educational usage.

The research shows that a hundred percent of the researchers and faculty members at the University are utilizing e-journals.The top ten most preferred online databases of respondents in Science, Social Science, and Arts subjects are listed separately in the study, necessitates the need of Universities to come across through user needs while subscribing online databases of e-journals.

The results of this study divulge that the majority of the LIS professionals are aware of social media but are being mainly used for personal purposes. Only a limited percentage of LIS professionals use social media for their professional development and promotion of their libraries in India. Majority of the respondents think official social media profiles of the library are a must for the development of libraries in this internet age but only limited libraries in India has official social media profiles. So LIS professionals in India had to perk up their social media presence and acclimatize social media for their professional as well as ultimately for enhancement of the library and Information centers.

The social media has changed the relationship between journalists and audiences from a one-way, asymmetric model of communication to a more participatory and collective system. Social media provides possibility to news consumers for direct interactions with journalists. With the diffusion of social media such as Facebook, whatsup, MySpace etc have become one of the most popular Internet services in the world. The journalistic norms and practices, participants valued the speed of journalism when they frequently accessed news on social media more so than traditional journalistic norms. This study analyzed the news access through social media by Journalism students and faculty in Department of Journalism, University of Kerala. The paper examines how journalism students and faculty are using social media sites for news consumption and sharing. The results indicated that there are relationships between Social Media and News Consumption.

In this era of information explosion E-resources are inevitable to support education, research and development of universities. So many of the libraries in India especially university libraries have started providing access to more and more e-resources for supporting educational and research programs. The universities in Kerala also adapted to these new ICT developments and increased the access to e-resources. This study helps to find out the electronic resources and the pattern of organization of electronic sources in the universities in Kerala. The present study point out that even though the library consortium provides a wide range of e-resources in different subjects, university libraries in Kerala due to the limitations of library consortiums are forced to subscribe online databases of E-journals, E-books and Electronic Thesis and Dissertations directly.

The study is based on bibliometric studies on coronavirus (CoVID-19) research publications publis... more The study is based on bibliometric studies on coronavirus (CoVID-19) research publications published from January to June 2020. The bibliographic data are gathered from Google Scholar (GS) database. Forty-seven bibliometric research studies on the topic with a total citation score of 204 and an average of 4.34%, form the core of data. Chronological distribution, authorship pattern, geographical location of the first author, and key words used are subjected to analysis. The most productive months are identified as May 2020, trailed by April 2020. The 55.32% of the papers are joint author publications with four or more authors. The dominant part (27.66%) of studies came out from China.

electronic journal usage up to 2015. The databases used for searching
the topic are LISA, Emerald, Google scholar and DOAJ. The search
retrieved 134 documents on the topic. It is found that maximum number
of documents is in the year 2009. Lion’s share (97%) of documents is
journal articles. More than half (54.5%) are user studies on e-journal
users in university libraries. Around 3/5th (61.2%) studies focus on all
types of users. General studies accounts to 66.4%. More than half
(53.7%) of publications are multi authored and among these two authored
pattern is prevalent in 46.3% of the contributions. Degree of collaboration
is found to be 0.68 and majority of the paper (59.7%) are from developed
countries. The journal ‘The Electronic Library’ publishes more number of
papers and the publication density is 2.63. Around 2/5th (40.3%) of papers
have 11-20 references.
