SysML is a standard from the Object Management Group. It is geared toward incrementally refinable description of conceptual design and product architecture. Elements in the design represent abstractions of artifacts in the various engineering disciplines involved in the development of the system. The design represents how these artifacts collaborate to provide the product functionalities. This paper explores all the diagrams available in SysML through the real-life example of an embedded system.

A website has been created to allow interested user to download the material produces during the project. The site is reachable at http://lcavwww.epfl.ch/ balmelli/java. Also, the site contains a series of web-based presentation for international conferences and workshop. A CD-ROM containing the full project and the website is available on demand at the laboratory. The report gives an introduction to the project and goal. We explain our motivation and give our approach to the problem. We main contribution in teaching, as well as in research are then presented.

SysML is the extension to System Engineering of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) proposed by the SysML and recently accepted as a answer to the Request for Proposal from the Object Modeling Group (OMG). We explain the rationale behind the construct of the model and give several examples to illustrate its features.
Adaptive sampling for very large particle systems using an incremental self-organizing feature map: an application in molecular dynamic

The ameliorations are dedicated to its usage in computer graphics and mainly in animation of particle-based systems. We show its application in the context of the visualization of molecular dynamic systems. Comparison with other works based on particle systems is then made. Finally, we propose some possible extensions to this work.

Part 1 introduces the language and describes its requirements, use-case, and test-case diagrams. Part 3 describes how to apply SysML's behavioral diagrams and explains its allocation mechanism. A real-life example of an embedded system is used throughout.

An overview of the Systems Modeling Language for product and systems development -- Part 1: Requirements, use-case, and test-case modeling

A lack of support during product conceptualization makes it difficult to efficiently trace the realization of requirements in the product. The lack of a formal representation for concepts also results in an inadequate ability to make decisions at the level of systems in the product, such as during feasibility studies. Moreover, the lack of a clear vision of the product architecture hinders team understanding and communication, which in turn often increases the risk of integration issues. It is these and other challenges confronted during the conceptual phase of product and system development that SysML is designed to mitigate.
