Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Tony/Gibbs Length: 12,824 Author on LJ:tejas Author Website:Link to Master Fic List Warnings: Please read header information on top of fic for warnings.
Why this must be read:
Although this fic was just posted in the last few days, it is a definite 'must read' on my list. Why you ask? First, it is a shifter AU within the NCIS fandom. I have a particular like for shifter fics within NCIS because of how well the team resonates as a pack and several authors pull this off and tejas is no exception. Second, it is a 'How Tony Came to Be at NCIS' story. There are so many of those out there, that it is sometimes hard to come up with a new take on it. tejas pulled it off.
And thirdly, it is a genderbending fic and I liked it! Many (like myself) shy away from fics that mention anything about genderbending. Well, if you have any like for the pairing of Gibbs/DiNozzo, you need to read this fic and not shy away. Trust me. I laughed in many places and was nodding along with it because even though it is a genderbending, AU, shifter-fic, it is STILL the characters that I know and love. And the genderbending... well... you have to read it, but it's not like the genderbending I shy away from. Trust me. ( Click for excerpt...Collapse )Link to Part 1 of Worthy
I'm driving the NCIS van at crack_van this month, so I figured I would crosspost my recs on my journal too... Title: House of Cards Author:xdawnfirex Rating: R (Adult Only) Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Tony/Kate/McGee (main); Gibbs/Abby (secondary) Length: 147,503 words (4 sections; multiple chapters)
Why this must be read:
I usually skipped over fics that had a heavy dose of Kate. Not that I didn't like her, I just didn't get much out of reading her character. Then I came across xdawnfirex's fics and fell for the way she writes Kate. House of Cards is my favorite of her fics because it shows a natural progression of how a serious relationship can begin and flourish. In this case, the relationship is between three people. It handles things from meeting the family (to various reactions), dealing with friends, raising children, dealing with sexual identification and religion.
This video shows the winner of "Ukraine’s Got Talent", Kseniya Simonova, 24, drawing a series of pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during World War II. Her talent, which admittedly is a strange one, is mesmeric to watch.
The images, projected onto a large screen, moved many in the audience to tears and she won the top prize of about £75,000.
She begins by creating a scene showing a couple sitting holding hands on a bench under a starry sky, but then warplanes appear and the happy scene is obliterated. It is replaced by a woman’s face crying, but then a baby arrives and the woman smiles again. Once again war returns and Miss Simonova throws the sand into chaos from which a young woman’s face appears.
She quickly becomes an old widow, her face wrinkled and sad, before the image turns into a monument to an Unknown Soldier. This outdoor scene becomes framed by a window as if the viewer is looking out on the monument from within a house.
In the final scene, a mother and child appear inside and a man standing outside, with his hands pressed against the glass, saying goodbye.
The Great Patriotic War, as it is called in Ukraine, resulted in one in four of the population being killed with eight to 11 million deaths out of a population of 42 million.
Kseniya Simonova says: "I find it difficult enough to create art using paper and pencils or paintbrushes, but using sand and fingers is beyond me. The art, especially when the war is used as the subject matter, even brings some audience members to tears. And there’s surely no bigger compliment."
It made me tear up. I'm not from that country and I didn't live during that time period, but this kind of thing transcends time and location. It's very moving.
Please take time to watch it. I just wish that they could find a rare talent like this on America's Got Talent instead of the same old line of singers and musicians.
Title: Magic in the Making Author: kaylashay Rating: FR7 Disclaimer: I'm not Bellesario or CBS, so I don't claim to own them. Characters: Gibbs & Tony Created For: nikitariddick wrote a new fic and requested some artwork. The fic is linked with the artwork for everyone to enjoy. It is called, Magic in the Making (NC17 Slash Story).
Title: Classic by sperrywink Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 7,000 Summary: AU after season 3. Spoilers for Hiatus. Gibbs wakes up from his coma different. A little softer and a lot more gay.
This is one of those fics that I've read time and time again. You can ask sperrywink. Every time I reread it, I would drop a comment leaving some plot bunny miracle grow, hoping for that third part to be written. Now, almost two years later, part three has finally been posted and it made me so happy.
This fic gives a very slow progress of Tony and Gibbs starting a relationship together. It also gives a different look at Gibbs... Instead of remaining the same, his amnesia changed him... for the better in my opinion. There's little moments throughout the fic that I just adore.
And the epilogue gives us a little tease as well...
Anyway... if you have not read it and you like Gibbs/DiNozzo and would like to see something different happen instead of Gibbs unceremoniously dumping Tony's things back on his desk and taking back the team, then go read it. Now!
Since I *think* I have internet back (don't tell Comcast), I thought I would say hi with some links to some awesome NCIS fics by three authors... ( Recs are behind the cut...Collapse )
I saw jedibuttercup do this and thought it looked interesting...
Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
I gotta say, this was really hard to narrow it down to five. The more I thought about some, the more I debated. I probably should have cheated and bumped it up to 10, but I didn't.
Thanks to all who participated in the nomination round. There were 2,064 nominations made for 1,216 different stories / series / authors, compared to the 529 of last year's round!
Voting is now open, and will end on Mon 31st December, 03:00:00 EST. Next... I'm going to "Pimp My Fics" right here and right now... So go vote for them if you want. If you don't want to, well, I guess I'll never know. :-)
Life threw some curve balls and I didn't duck quick enough or something like that. But now I'm coming back to the internet world and bring a new fandom with me.
I got into NCIS. If you haven't watched, I highly recommend it. I watched all 4 seasons and sought out fics. Of all those fics, below is the one I found to be the best. It actually ranked right at the top of my all time fav fics with Bridges, which, if you didn't know, is my fav fic.
My Take On It: The author sets up a wonderful storyline for how Tony DiNozzo went from being a homicide detective to a NCIS Special Agent working for Gibbs. The characters seem true to their future selves. The original characters are not Mary Sues. It's a wonderful read and I would like to think this is the prequel to the show. There's also little plants throughout the story that reference how Tony and Gibbs interact in the future. Read and enjoy!
Skin Deep by Ava (aka avamclean) Manips created crossing over BTVS and ATS with several series. (Substantial portion dedicated to the character of Buffy)
The Problem Child by zoev Fanart featuring Sam Carter & Buffy Summers. Response to Challenge 2066, where the two females are estranged sisters.
I dont know if you'll still be receiving messages dfrom here? If you are, I wondered if you extended this story, its begining is amazing and Im sure any more would be just as good.
