I was bored and chatting, when I decided to write up something melodramatic.
And in the hours before dawn a bitter wind blew, chilling the souls of all the people huddled in shadowed corners of the garden, still and silent as the stone benches upon which they sat. Three times the night bird called, ill fortune's herald, and something deep within their hearts froze and cracked and, with an almost musical sound like that of silver chimes, shattered. "What will become of us?" they wondered, but the words froze upon chapped lips, and the question echoed in their frightened eyes. Mute and blinded by uncertainty, they clung together, little lost souls adrift at sea, but those seas shall dry up and the mountains crack, splitting the earth in two, shattering the peace of creation, and that is the death of a dream.
I have no idea exactly what that was about, but it was fun.
I took the “15 minute fic” word and tried to make a drabble, which is a 100 word piece. Limiting one's word count so much is harder than I thought, and I didn’t quite make it this time, coming at 103 words this time, but I don’t know what to cut. So it’ll do for now. It’ll do pig. It’ll do.
I love Teddy.
He’s got one eye and his ear is nearly off. Mommy has fixed it five times already, but Freckles got hold of him again yesterday. His fur is bare in spots – Aunt Jessie calls him, “That old moth-eaten toy.” -- and Mommy had to do ’mergency stuffing replacement twice, but I don’t care, ‘cuz Teddy protects me. No one believes me, ‘cuz the sunlight makes them disappear. It burns up all the bits and pieces left over after Teddy is done.
When I was littler I was afraid when Mommy turned off the lights, but then I got Teddy.
The whole thing is quite the clusterfuck and quite hard to follow. When reviewing things, I tried to focus on quoted statements by the DashCon Staff, facts, and attendee observations. Even then…
Agreed. Looking at Night Vale's Tweets, I'm pretty sure it'd take some amazing PR skills and people with the experience to reassure them to get them to return.
In college I hit garage and estate sales a lot. The only thing I wouldn't get is anything I can't wash in hot water, ie couches, mattresses, etc due to bedbug concerns.

Lot of stores will mark down the brown bananas because they're not as pretty. I love those!
