How to Use
The plugin automatically generates ALT text for images during upload. Manual processing is also available.
🔄 Automatic ALT Generation (On Upload)
- When you upload an image, Alt Bot automatically generates ALT text using:
- EXIF data (ImageDescription)
- Filename (converted to readable text)
- Attachment title (fallback)
- Improves site accessibility and SEO by ensuring all images have meaningful ALT text.
🛠️ Manual ALT Generation
Option 1: From Missing ALT Page
- Navigate to Dashboard Alt Bot Missing ALT.
- Use filters to view missing or existing ALT images.
- Select images or use Select All.
- Click Generate ALT for Selected or Generate for All Shown.
Option 2: From Media Library
- Open Dashboard Media Library.
- Hover over thumbnails to access Alt Bot overlay buttons.
- Click Generate ALT Text for individual images.
- Red button = missing ALT, Green button = existing ALT.
Notes
- Works with all image types supported by WordPress (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, etc.).
- EXIF data is available for JPEG images only.
- Bulk operations depend on server performance and image count.

Installation
Minimum Requirements =
- PHP 8.0 or greater is required (PHP 8.0 or greater is recommended)
- MySQL 5.5.5 or greater, OR MariaDB version 10.1 or greater, is required
- WordPress 6.7 or greater
Installation from WordPress Dashboard
- Upload the plugin folder to the
/wp-content/plugins/directory or install via the Plugins screen in WordPress. - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen.
- After activation, go to Dashboard Alt Bot to start using.
Manual Installation
- Download the plugin ZIP file.
- Navigate to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the ZIP file, click ‘Install’, and Activate.
Installation via FTP
- Unzip the plugin ZIP file.
- Use an FTP client to upload the plugin folder to
wp-content/plugins/. - Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Plugins → Installed Plugins.
- Activate the plugin.

No. By default, Alt Bot only generates ALT for missing images.
