DragonCon!!! It is now over, but all moments were fully siezed. Reintegration into regular life that *isn't* full of costumes and geekery is slowly occuring but is sad. Still waiting on the good cameras to be downloaded and pics posted, but I did have my phone with me to snap a few shots. Shortcut to my small photo album
We pulled off Totoro, 60's Batman ensemble, Buffy's Gentleman, and a couple Avenger's costumes this year. Three new costumes was perhaps a bit much... but I bet I'll forget that by next year. None the less, all costumes were a hit, and a ton of fun. *happy sigh*
Parents are arriving today, mad house cleaning is underway in between work stuff, homework assignment is due tonight. So what did I do last night in order to prepare for this? Read fic. Yup.
When did someone sneak in and dial the speed of my life up to eleven? So. Many. Things. I've cut for the length, but there are fun links and stuff under the cuts.

Which speaking of… I really need to clean my house. But I'm supposed to be working (and there are things to do). And I have to leave for a riding lesson at 4pm. I need a time machine. branwyn, you were supposed to get on that, but I know you've been busy.
Day 2 was mostly about Totoro for me and that was just fine. Since this con had no anime specialized content we really didn't know how he'd be received, but apparently we shouldn't have worried. I even stepped in at one point to give my brother a break for a couple hours (you must be at least 6 feet tall to carry the Totoro), and it was a very cool if surreal experience.
The highlight was entering the costume contest, which we've never done before. It was free to enter and there were cash prizes, and we figured it was a rehearsal for Sakura Con and Norwest Con where we planned to enter. So we did it on a whim. AND TOOK 3rd IN THE MASTER CLASS! *flail* There were some amazing costumes, and none of us thought we'd get anything but honorable mention. For us, the cheering as he made his way on stage and down the catwalk was reward enough. There is video, and it will be shared. We also hopefully got some new contacts for cosplay tips from some super talented people.
There were also panels, most of which I skipped out on, and one in which I gambled for a better seat and lost. Woe.... but life went on.
I'm sure I've forgotten things, but now I need to get in the shower and then back to the con. Geekery!
Arrived in time (after work and barn) to get the lay of the land of ComicCon and try on a fabulously extraneous leather split skirt corset dress. WANT. But I think I'll speak to the lovely people tomorrow about custom leather pants instead. Slightly more practical. Slightly... The lady helping me try things on rides dressage and does mounted archery. I feel I need to know this person better.
In other news, alittleblue and I checked out the "official" after hours party and determined this is the issue with non-hotel hosted cons. The tool to geek ratio was WAY off. So we left after one drink and stopped at my local bar to decompress. I have higher hopes for tomorrow night's party as it is in a better part of town for lower tool-count, and will have a better mix of DJs.
As an added bonus, at my lovely local bar the spitting image of a slightly older and now tatooed Stiles was playing pool. Both Blue and I commented on the wonderful AU world in which Stiles moves to Portland (since Klaus mentions this is where all the werewolves are anyway) and gets to grow up after high school. Derek could not have been far away. I ♥ my local bar.
Day two will include Totoro's hometown debut, panels, and general geekery. I haz an excite.
It's a good thing I have long arms or I'd never be able to reach the keyboard over the cats. This is Echo's new thing - fitting in to my lap where there is no space. Hobie just grooms her fur the wrong way up the back of her head and seems fine with it. Of course without the fact that he's wedged against the edge of the desk he'd probably fall off. My lap, even with a blanket, really doesn't fit both of them.
In other news, I'm reading fic from all the fandoms and generally doing very well. School continues apace with the A streak still intact, I have vampire girls night tonight (though we're watching TeenWolf atm), and this weekend there will be geeking with ComicCon. All the good things!
I've even started looking at a budget, like a grown up. Ha! Once the wierd spending for house stuff is over (nearly there) I'll see what reality looks like. TV may get cut. It's true. But horses have been added, so that's awesome. Also, I clearly need a higher paying job. I plan to investigate that this year.
So there you have the mini update on all things me. Still alive.
And now, I need to get back to that RL thing that I've been doing. But I'm still here too! I'm stil all fannish - with Avengers, and a Dresden Files resurgance, and TVD... :( I'll have to give my full thoughts on Season 4 TVD at another time.
It was once again pointed out to me that if I don't post on this thing there are people who don't know what I'm up to. And so much has happened - pretty much all good stuff too! So I *WILL* post a real update very soon.
However, today I'm pushing a deadline and I need to get back to that, so for now I give you a song rec.
