With Varying Frequency – Amateur Radio Ponderings

Needed an excuse to try out a Digirig interface.

“As a differentiating feature, Digirig only requires a single USB connection to the computer with all the digital goodness packed in a single small enclosure. The internals include a USB hub, audio codec, a fully featured serial CAT (Computer Aided Transceiver) interface, and potentially other modules such as GPS receiver for time synchronization.” from the Digirig website

Using it with my Elecraft KX3 seemed as good of an excuse as any.

Here is any example of a DigitRig in use with a KX3:

The unit and cables have been ordered, and my idea is to try things out with a Raspberry Pi SBC (single board computer).

This DigiRig/KX3 project will be stacked behind the PACTOR projects, so it might be a bit before updates.  Depends on how the PACTOR projects go, and my overall available time.

(I also ordered the cable set to hook to one of my cheapo HTs for VHF Digital at a later date.)
