With Varying Frequency – Amateur Radio Ponderings

So many of the cross border information flows are being curtailed. From roughly 1993 to some ending in 2025/26 the various efforts of Radio Free Europe have been discontinued.

Over time some things did change.

• The funding started to dry up.
• Mission creep happened, where resources were diverted to largely non-European targets.
• Agreements were made to let the former Soviet Satellite states have their own media without the external checks & balances of Radio Free Europe.
• Internet and Satellite radio greatly replaced the former MF, AM, and FM radios in the target audience.
• The Grift-Factor of the radio operations made any ROI (Return On Investment) reduced by dilution.

I understand some of Radio Liberty (the part that broadcasts into Russia itself) continues, but little of the rest remains.

We had RFE because it was a bit of light broadcast into a disinformation darkened world.

When our free country bankers and politicians became in line for the proceeds of the grift and the grift stopped – when we decided the disinformation was more profitable to us than the light, it stopped.

Bankers Math prevailed.

It can be argued that it should still be broadcast, and the coverage should have been expanded to include all of us.

Some say our Covid-Tyranny(tm) experience would have been very different if the media wasn’t being manipulated to nudge us to believe stuff we now kick ourselves for falling for.

Well the historic stuff is gone, decommissioned, unfunded, scrapped, and in some cases permanently blighted by the grifting that consumed it.

But Ham Radio remains, as quiet, small scale version.

When the USA had natural disasters that the then administration decided to control the narrative, Ham Radio operators played a role in working around the controlling agencies.

Be certain that they noticed, and those prone to promoting control over freedom will work harder to stifle Ham Radio if they feel it is needed.
