The study uses Johansen’s methodology to test the existence and uniqueness of cointegrating vectors among the I(1) variables. The results suggest the lack of a long-run relationship between the variables. Health expenditure is an important determinant of better health status, and is therefore a key tool available to policy makers.

This study attempted to investigate the interspecific plant–plant biotic interactions using a functional traits approach. Specifically, the effects of a dominant species coverage on the functional diversity of coexisting species in the temperate forest understory were studied. Species coverage and soil moisture data were collected using a 1 m2 quadrat couplet (2 × 1 m2) from six sites alongside a 20 m linear transect encompassing a cover gradient of Allium ursinum in southwest Hungary. Major plant functional dimensions i.e., aboveground, and clonal functional traits were considered. Linear and nonlinear mixed models to quantify the effects of biotic interaction on the functional diversity of every single trait and multiple traits were employed. Both aboveground traits and clonal traits of persistent clonal growth org...

This paper uses time series econometric techniques to re-investigate the relationship between exports and economic growth in India during the period 1971-2005. The insertion of three additional relevant variables omitted in previous studies help to clarify the conflicting results from earlier studies on the Indian economy. The empirical results suggest that there exists a unique long-run relationship between exports, export instability, imports, investment, terms of trade and gross domestic product. For example, ceteris paribus a 10 per cent increase in the exports raises GDP by an estimated 2.76 per cent in the long run. The short-term dynamic behaviour of income growth function has been investigated by estimating an error correction model in which the error correction term has been found to be correctly signed and statistically significant. However, there is no strong evidence for short-run causality flowing from export growth to economic growth. JEL classification: C32, F10, O11

The study uses secondary data obtained from 2011 Ethiopian demographic and health survey SPSS stored data. A total of9622 of children agedfive years and below which contain the necessary information were considered in this study, analysed within a theoretical framework based on a health production function. Descriptive, binary and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed using STATA version 12 and R version 3.1.1. Thirty five percent and 37percent of children were underweight and stunted. The results from bivariate chi-square analysis indicated that a number of variables were significantly related to underweighting and stunting. In addition to analyzing underweighting and stunting for the whole sample, we have also separately analyzed for urban and rural households, and found that the determinants differed. Electric power and television access, longer...
