Changelog. All changes or improvements to the blog will be recorded in this file. List of recommended tools.

• Support chat has been added. This is not an AI chat. It is a Fuzzy Search chatbot written in JavaScript.
• A new "Chat" option has been added to the menu for quick access to support on the website. We are working on improving the knowledge base to enhance the quality of our responses.
• A button is added to posts using the same method, with the text: "Quick summary", which opens a modal window to request a brief summary or ask questions about the content.

Essentially, it’s a contextual search engine that looks like an assistant and draws on three sources without leaving the blog. I’ll explain it in a post another day.

• Testing of warning messages for visitors with ad blockers enabled, using a soft approach. The message is displayed only three times per browser session every 24 hours using the "DeBlocker" plugin.

Redesign of the comments section. "Like/Dislike" voting buttons have also been added without the use of plugins. These buttons and their counters disappear when comments are automatically closed 40 days after the post is published.

• The third custom plugin is added and activated. "Speed Auditor" is a tool that helps identify performance bottlenecks in real time whilst browsing the site. It generates a downloadable technical report in .txt format that highlights elements critical to Core Web Vitals and structural efficiency.

• A new language, Thai th, has been added.

• The custom plugin "Recordar for Bluesky" is added and activated. The plugin automates the publication of archive posts as "On this day X years ago" posts on this Bluesky account every half hour from 8 am to 5 pm. The process of submitting the plugin to the WordPress repository begins. On 10 December, it is approved and published in the repository.

• On Thursday, 18 December, the second plugin, Real-Time Widget for Matomo, was approved. See previous review.

• All PHP snippets and CSS fragments are reviewed, cleaned up, checked and moved from funcions.php in the child theme to the new "Code" tool in Perfmatters' snippet management section, and the child theme is no longer required.

• Improvements have been made to the Name Directory plugin, which is used for the artists’ directory. Each profile now features a more attractive and minimalist layout, and each author has their own dedicated page with a user-friendly URL based on their name. Paginated lists and other useful options have been added to streamline the management and editing of profiles.

• The Hindi language hi_IN has been added.

• Hebrew he and Vietnamese vi have been added.

• The Latvian language has been added: lv.

• Long posts and pages are split up to reduce the load without affecting SEO. See related note.

• All images are converted to .AVIF and unused images are deleted. Find out more.

• A button has been added that opens a modal window to display error messages below posts without a plugin. View code.

• A contact form has been added without using any plugins, and the VS Contact Form plugin has been omitted. View code.

• The Estonian language has been added: et.

• The Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) buttons have been removed from the sharing options. The Facebook button, due to its numerous shenanigans to promote the right wing and the change in its content ‘moderation’ policy to suck up to Donald Trump, and the X button, so as not to give even a drop of water to the fascist Elon Musk.

On 21 September 2024, I stopped using my Facebook account, and on 8 January 2025, I stopped using my Twitter (X) account.

• Norwegian (Bokmål) has been added nb_NO.

• The Easy Social Share Buttons plugin is being uninstalled for optimisation purposes. I’m reverting to buttons added via code only, now that I’ve managed to find the correct URL structures for sharing on Mastodon and Bluesky.

• The Lithuanian language lt_LT has been added.

• Test. The manually added share buttons have been temporarily replaced until the structure for Mastodon and Bluesky is in place. The Easy Social Share Buttons plugin (which allows new networks to be added) has been installed, and the Bluesky and Mastodon buttons – which were previously not working – have been enabled.

• The Bulgarian language bg_BG has been added.

• Testing the redesign of the footer using GenerateBloks. Testing is currently limited to the Spanish version. Testing the adjustment, measurement and optimisation of the DOM. See old version. See new version.

• In progress. Reorganisation of categories and tags. The aim is to reduce the 10,414 accumulated tags – and those associated with just one or two posts – by at least half, and to regroup them into a more logical structure. Meta descriptions are being reviewed and any missing ones are being written.

• The Slovak language sk_SK has been added.

• The forum is discontinued. After two and a half months, for every legitimate registered user (5) there were more than 200 spam attempts.

• The Rank Math Pro is discontinued after three years of use with paid subscription and replaced by The Seo Framework.

Los motivos son principalmente tres:

1. Although Rank Math is very complete and is not one of the heaviest plugins, it is still fattened, The Seo Framework is much lighter, focuses on the basic functions and there is a noticeable improvement in performance. The DB weight has been reduced from 623Mb to 530Mb.
2. Rank Math PRO has raised its minimum price from $59 to$95.88. That's an increase of $36.88 all at once. A final price almost close to the average cost of hosting. In their defence I have to say that when I told them the reasons for the cancellation they offered me to keep the price of the last three years with a refund of the difference.
3. Although the new options they added recently were reasonable, they are still committed to embedding stories based on paid IA to generate content and other rather dispensable functions. I have yet to explain all this in more detail in a note.

• The subscription for ad-free surfing is withdrawn. Hardly anyone is interested. I do not rule out upgrading a possible subscription in the future with another approach.

It adds the possibility of subscription to browse without advertising for €0.50 per month with an annual payment of €6. To do this, use the plugin Simple Membership and with Ad Inserter configure the exceptions to not show any ads to subscribers.

• Added a forum using wpForo plugin.

Simple Ajax Chat Pro (SAC Pro), which was in testing since 30/11/2022 because almost nobody was using it anymore, is withdrawn. See review.

• Tabbed redesign of all (1), (2), (3) and (4) from the list "Humor en apuros" to add images. Case summaries are corrected, shortened and improved. Flags used in the tabs are courtesy of banderas-mundo.es (Tnx!).

• Added language Arabic (ar) Fus'ha (اللغة العربية الفصحى), also known as Modern Standard Arabic (MSA): the written version of Arabic used in all official communications of governments, organisations and academic institutions, literature, the legal sector and the media.

• Added the language Finnish(fi)

• Added language Dutch (nl_NL)

• Added language Danish (da_DK)

• Added new review service terms and conditions page.

• Added language Hungarian (hu_HU).

• Test. Added Microsoft Clarity service that provides heat maps and session recording for the purpose of studying and improving usability. View review.

• Subscription pop-up window made with Ad Inserter and a GenerateBlocks block that is displayed when the visitor has reached 80% of a post and is no longer displayed after closing it. This window is only active for ten alternate days each month. + Info.

• Customisation of the results page of the search engine and on the NO results page - See tutorial.

• I redesigned this Changelog page to indicate the categories by coloured labels.

• Added language Romanian (ro_RO).

• The language Swedish (sv_SE) is added.

• Language Korean (ko_KR) is added.

• The Czech (cs_CZ) and the Greek (el) language are added.

• Added two new languages: Ukrainian (uk) and Polish (pl_PL).

• Testing. Added a chat using Simple Ajax Chat Pro (SAC Pro). See review.

• Various modifications for the review of the request for publication in the Entertainment/Opinion section in Google News on Android, iOS and news.google.com. Updated and published on 17/11.

• Rediseño. Nuevo CSS que mejora el aspecto del directorio de dibujantes para el que se utiliza el plugin Name Directory de Jeroen Peters.

• Continuing with the plan to replace plugins with lightweight code-only alternatives to minimise load times, today sees the uninstall of Kadence Blocks. The accordions (alternative), tabs (alternative) and contact form (alternative), (here other with PHP, CSS, JS and Ajax) are added without using plugins.

The only thing I have not managed to replicate without plugin have been the tables of contents (which will arrive sooner or later as a native block for WordPress) (Alternative temporary), I have been defeated by different errors. So, for the moment, I'm using the Simple TOC plugin, the lightest one I know, until I can debug the bugs.

• The Sriptless Social Sharing plugin is dispensed with. Although it is very lightweight and does not use Javascript, it is improved by replacing it with pure HTML, CSS and PHP code with SVG Inline code to create the sharing buttons. Zero additional requests, less code, lighter and faster. View code (Only for GeneratePress Premium template)

• New section Biographies created.

• Testing. Creation of subscription area for members with plans for ad-free browsing and access to extra content with Ultimate Membership Pro purchased on Envato.Uninstalled on 22 November 2022. Analysis.

• The plugin WP Show Post which was responsible for displaying related posts has been removed. Now GenerateBlocks, from its version 1.5.0, includes the new Query Loops block that allows to show related posts in several ways (random, by category or tags) although for the moment (until it is integrated in its FREE and/or PRO version) you have to add a function code. • The languages Italian (it_IT), Indonesian (id_ID) and Turkish (tr_TR) are added.

• Redesign of the documentaries page and Tontolares.

• The language Japanese (ja) is added.

• The language German (de_DE) is added.

• Tests. Added button at the bottom of the posts for notification of spelling errors, bugs or broken links. The button opens a Kadence form and the popup window is made with the Modal Guten Block plugin, which only consumes 11.9 KB.

• The language Portuguese (pt_PT) is added.

• Significant performance improvement. LucusHost expands its plans with more storage space, RAM and CPU. From 20 to 30Gb of space and to have 2560 MB of RAM and 175% of CPU (1.75 vCore).

• The QUIC.Cloud CDN is activated temporarily to compare possible performance improvements. More info.

• AMP pages are removed, as the native mobile version of GeneratePress is already as fast or even faster than AMP pages. One less plugin.

• Added Russian and Chinese languages, converted tables to InnoDB and changed the encoding to UTF8mb4_unicode_ci to fix problems with Cyrillic and Noto Sans font.

• It dispenses with Feedzy RSS Feeds, in both versions, free and Pro. It is difficult to optimise the pages where it is used and I have not achieved a reasonable cache. Even reducing the size of the thumbnail and the number of feeds to be displayed to a minimum, the response is not quite optimal. Even so, it is still one of the best options for displaying feeds.

• I abandon and uninstall Elementor PRO and restructure the template (GeneratePress Premiun) with Gutenberg and GenerateBloks PRO plus a couple of Kadence Blocks. More info.

• Change in social buttons to lighten load using Scriptless Social Sharing. More info.

• Review and improvement of HTTP security headers.

• Moved the blog from jrmora.com/blog/ to the root of the domain.
• Change permalinks from: jrmora.com/blog/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ to jrmora.com/%postname%/. Tnx to Lucushost

• Added function snippet that counts and displays the number of words in the post, reading time and other data. More info.

• Added function snippet that shows under the article title the estimated reading time in minutes calculated from a default value of 200 words per minute. More info.

• Optimisation. Removed the pages added in May that showed the posts and comments most voted by periods to lighten the loading speed. Tested plugin: WPUlikePro Personal.

• Added a WhatsApp contact method on different pages.

• Tests in a test environment to offer advertising spaces with a complete purchase process on the page. Plugin used: Ads Pro Plugin - Multi-Purpose WordPress Advertising Manager.

• Uninstallation and removal of Woocommerce  and all its associated plugins, replacing it by simplifying the direct purchase process through Paypal to lighten the load.

• Uninstallation of WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway due to upcoming demise.
