Jensen\u2019s sprawled on the grass, long legs in worn denim, white t-shirt that won\u2019t be white for long, and sunglasses pushed high into his hair. Jared is above him, bigger and taller than he actually is, tanned and grinning, pushing Jensen to the ground, his knee in between Jensen\u2019s thighs. A wrestling match. As if Jared\u2019s forgotten what happened the last time.

Boys. Theirs. Everyone\u2019s. Co-stars and friends. Best friends. Soulmates.
It\u2019s there, for everyone to see, in bold letters, neon bright. Faithful husbands and loving fathers.
But there are days, moments like this one, fractions, snippets of a scene, photos that one of them stumbles upon, when she can\u2019t help but wonder.

She looks over at Danneel sitting in a rocky chair with JJ curled in her lap, first teeth and piggy tails, and daddy\u2019s smile.

\u201cDanneel?\u201d

\u201cYes?\u201d

\u201cDo you ever--?\u201d

Danneel\u2019s answer is short, quick. She doesn\u2019t even let her finish the question, she watches the same sequence. \u201cNo.\u201d

\u201cI do. And believe me, you don\u2019t wanna know. You don\u2019t wanna wonder.\u201d

She glances back at the boys; Jensen\u2019s currently winning, pressing Jared to the ground, much to Thomas\u2019 delight. Their bodies touch, nearly every inch, clothes askew and muscles strained. They both look twelve again. She looks away.

Three in the morning, and Dean is still up. Drinking. Staring up at the ceiling of his dark bedroom, Sam can hear the occasional clinging of glass, the poisoned breath-swallow after.

Another hour passes, and then he gets up, tired and half blind, makes his way into the kitchen that Dean\u2019s been occupying for the last few days, not sleeping, not<\/em> hurt, drinking away his nonexistent sorrow.

He doesn\u2019t break easy. But if there is one thing that can make him stumble and trip, crash, it\u2019s Sam. It\u2019s family.

He is still where Sam left him, several hours ago, one empty bottle sitting at his elbow, another one, half-empty already, right before his eyes. He\u2019s resting his chin on the table, eyeing the amber liquid in front of him, eyes heavy, red-rimmed.

\u201cPlanning to stop any time soon?\u201d Sam asks, leaning against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest.

\u201cWhat do you care?\u201d It\u2019s not a voice, just a grunt really. Thick. Smooth, like a sandpaper. He stands up, using the table to keep himself upright, his first step unsure, the next ones even more wobbly. He walks up to Sam, looking even smaller than he truly is, both younger and really old, oddly fragile. \u201cYou know, Sammy, you were right. I\u2019m a selfish asshole\u2026 But know what else? I\u2019m done. You wanna die?\u201d He shrugs, negligent, cold, but the wannabe careless tone of his voice somehow break the tears in his eyes, the dry, dirty traces of them on his cheeks. The pain, raw, naked. The betrayal. \u201cDie. I don\u2019t care.\u201d

A few minutes later, Sam hears the Impala starting, her fast, angry growl as he takes off from the bunker.

He finds her in the morning, at dawn, parked at the side of the road, headlights on, snow falling in their blaze. Dean\u2019s gun is clenched in tight fingers, ivory and silver, pale pink of his skin. A dried trickle of blood copies the contours of his face, the sharp line of his jaw, taints the collar of his shirt.
