Marking still to be painted on these models. These are upgraded versions of the models.
Painted up my new MAP – Mine and Ambush Protected late series Kudu vehicles. Stunning 20mm models of these vehicles.
These vehicles were used by the BSAP, PWD (Public Works Department) and INTAF and were usually painted in the green base colour. I believe this was also the base colour used for Rhodesian Army Vehicles.
An expensive acquisition but some farmers had them.
I still have to sort out the canvas covers and fit them correctly for these vehicles.

This weekend I finally got around to painting up my MSU. The MSU was designed by Major ‘Doc’ Webster working with the RLI Fireforce operations. As we know when dealing with casualties during such an operation the Golden Hour was of the utmost importance to get a casualty treated. With trying to casevac a casualty and then pass them on further to life saving surgery this meant time was ticking for the casualty and thus ‘Doc’ Webster decided to take his surgery to the casualty or get it as close as possible. With this in mind he came up with the concept of the MSU.
He devised a surgical trailer with tent wards which could be attached and south African organisations helped in this matter. Two ambulances were also needed, one a large MAP 7.5 and the other a mine protected 2.5 Unimog ambulance. A mine protected 4,5 GS truck would pull the MSU trailer and carry any stores needed. A generator trailer was also needed to provide power for the MSU trailer and this was pulled by the 7.5 MAP Ambulance.
The MSU would usually follow the second wave troops vehicles carrying other sticks to be flown into the contact but reducing the pick up time by driving closer to the contact. Second wave would carry in the vehicles spare AVTUR for the helicopters, ammo, radios, batteries, etc etc
The 3D Printed models of this MSU unit is produced by David Michael Freeman in Australia.

This is just a small number of vehicles that David makes for AIW. You should see his list for the 1948 war.
[email protected] and you can find his models on his facebook site. Rhodesian Bush War Models. He can send you a list but he is expanding his various conflicts and ranges quicker than you can believe.
Make a request for a conflict you would like to wargame or particular vehicles, or models.
David Freemantle models produce high quality 3D Printed models of various conflicts and the Rhodesian Bush War and Arab Israeli War 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973 and later conflicts in 1/72 and 28mm scales. Other scales can be produced on request. Prices are good too.
. Prices are good too, and even with postage from Australia I find it worth while.
For all those interested in Arab Israeli Wars I have ordered batches IDF vehicles and vehicles from the different wars. Makmat 160mm mortar carrier is excellent. David Michael Freemantle does a whole range from 1948, 1956, 1965, 1973 and onwards. My IDF M3 and M4 Shermans as well as the M50 105mm SP artillery for 1967 6 Day War were also excellent.
David Michael Freemantle models produce high quality 3D Printed models of the Rhodesian Bush War and Arab Israeli War 1948, 1956 and 1967 and many other conflicts in 1/72 and 28mm scales and can produce other scales to order. Prices are good too so postage from Australia makes it worth while to me here in the UK.
Have a word with David on a particular need and he can produce it. David did a brilliant job at producing 28mm vehicles for WWI East Africa for me.
AIW (Arab Israeli War) – the range is unbelievable.
The Egyptions used this version so I think it should be sand colour. Excellent model.
I recently received the 90mm gun version of this model and it is excellent. I need to complete painting it.
I have still not got round to painting my MSU which I believe was designed by the ‘Doc’ Major Cliff Webster with the RLI. It meant that a MSU could travel with the Land Tail backing up a Fire Force operation and casevaced troopers could receive important surgery within the golden hour before being moved on for more treatment in a hospital.

Interesting note I met up with the ‘Doc’ Cliff Webster on Remembrance in London this year. I must email him and ask him for more detail.
