Happy Christmas/whatever you celebrate, everyone!

I've been quiet, and I have so many unanswered comments, but I had to post holiday greetings (even if I'm a day light by my time).

So yes, Happy Winter Holiday to you (as I know not everyon celebrates Christmas).

Had a lovely day - it finally rained a decent amount, which is really, really good, the only bad part was that it was too rainy to go out to my cousin's farm for the evening, which would have been nice, but we'll catch up so it's okay. Had a lovely lunch with friends and family :). And got to see some very important online people because of not going out, so it was a win/win in the end.

As for my gifts, see under the cut. Mostly DVDs as I didn't have much else I wanted or needed as I tend to get those things through the year as needed.

On DVD:

Life On Mars US (because I liked it, and I really like Jason O'Mara's Sam a lot, even if he's different to John Simm's - plus I adore Chris Skelton no matter the version).

Heroes Season Three (also known as the season I fell head over heels in love with Zachary Quinto, long before I started writing RPF about him. I got S1 and S2 for my birthday in September btw).

Torchwood Children Of Earth (which I am, actually, looking forward to watching. I want some new canon and it has Lucy Cohu, who I truly adore, and she's playing Jack's daughter, and though I know how things end up, I still want to see that so very much. I'm actually interested to know my reaction to the big issues - I won't go into detail in case there's anyone out there who'd like to remain unspoiled - when I actually see them, don't just react to hearing about them. That said I'm not likely to watch it for a bit, I need to be in the right mindset for it and that's not where I am right now).

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (this has one reason - I've developed a huge, huge girlcrush on Kristen Bell and she plays the said Sarah Marshall. Also I like Jason Segel from How I Met Your Mother. These two, plus a reasonable price - I got this one for myself - are more than enough to get past my "I don't like you very much" with Russell Brand - mind you I don't think we're supposed to like his character in this).

GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra (yes, of course, at least half of this one is Chris Eccleston, omg he's good in this. That said, I really liked the movie when I saw it and asked for it. I just like the whole movie, it's cast well - I'm still never going to be head over heels for Channing Tatum but he's not bad in it, and I love the rest of the cast. I'm one of a few people I know who actually likes Sienna Miller, and I adore Rachel Nichols (aka Gaila the Orion in Star Trek) in this so much, and it has Ray Park who is amazing - he's also got some great moments in the "Making Of" documentary, which kinda made me fall in love with him all over again. Awww. And then there's the rest of the cast - I just love everyone, it's that simple. This is not a movie I'm very objective about. And I am so in love with Ray Park now - more than I was before - in that omg I want to watch so much more of his work way).

The Rolling Stones Live At The Max (concert DVD of the Stones - bought for having Honky Tonk Women, Ruby Tuesday, You Can't Always Get What You Want and others not on the other Stones DVD I have. Plus this one was before Bill left and I kind of like Bill).

John Denver The Wildlife Concert (this one's half my Dad's and half mine, lol. I love John Denver's music, which I know is daggy (or nerdy if you're American), but I really do, he wrote some amazing songs. And this is a nearly two hour DVD with all of his best songs, and some others. So it's all good if you like him :))

And a Dusty Springfield CD - I love her and have been wanting a comprehensive CD of hers for a while and this one has all that I wanted, so yay!

I also got candles, one in the shape of a cupcake that is almost too pretty to burn (almost!), the others pretty green floating ones. An embroidered hand towel with a bear head hanging piece. A coat hanger with lace and lavender scented. Some lotion with a lovely scent (Imari by Avon, it's very nice). Some bath products - frangipani (plumeira) scented bubble bath, olive and honey bubble bath and sparkling bubble bath. All good.

And of course it is yuletide I got two amazing stories - someone picked up one of my requests for Yuletide Madness as well.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/34066 Where He Belongs is Star Trek (Reboot) RPF - Zachary Quinto/Karl Urban and Leonard Nimoy/Bruce Greenwood (which I didn't know I wanted until I read it, omg and now I so want more!) and is hot, sexy and everything I could want from a story involving these four (I went character specific with these four guys, because much as I love Zach/Chris, I wanted something different if this was the yuletide request that got picked up and I'm glad it was because it's just wonderful!)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/37987 Wilson Green is based on the song What's Your Mama's Name? and it's exactly what I wanted from a story based on this song. It's bittersweet, sad, and delves into characters we only hear about for a few lines so, so perfectly. Just beautifully done and captures the song amazingly well.

Also because of the song/album interest in yuletide I'm considering making a comm for music-based stories. I'm not sure it'd be high traffic but it's one of those things I'd like to see, so I'm thinking of making it. I'd prefer LJ to Dreamwidth at this point, though, and I don't know if that is likely to make a difference.

See next post for your chance to guess what yuletide stories are mine (I wrote two).

And a few requests. I've heard some songs on TV/in movies that I've really liked, and I was wondering if anyone might have the MP3s (or M4As) of any of them and might be willing to upload? Any version - this is just the artist Google gives me when I search the lyrics, and in one case I have Issues but would be happy to take the original as I really like the song.

My Back Pages - The Byrds (I know it's a Dylan song. I have Dylan Issues. Other covers would be great and I will listen to the Dylan version if it's all anyone has).

Thank You For The Years - Shirley Bassey.

Dead Man's Curve - Jan & Dean

Dream A Little Dream Of Me - I'd actually like versions that aren't Cass Elliott - I have her version and love it but was wondering if there were any others out there.

What I Did For Love - from A Chorus Line - any version would be lovely for this one.

All Around My Hat - Steeleye Span

Let Me Tell You About Love - The Judds

Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days) - The Judds

Lucky - Jason Mraz

Acid Tongue - Jenny Lewis

I don't know the name of this one and only have the snippet of the lyrics and that it's probably by Stephen Stills (or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young or Crosby, Stills & Nash). It's the song with the lyrics: "Something's happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear" - at least that's what I hear when I listen to it.

The First Cut Is The Deepest - I get several versions when I google, so any would be cool. :)

The Vault Of Heaven - Michael Ball. I know this one only from a concert CD - it's Andrew Lloyd Webber so there may be other versions available, and any would be wonderful.

Mexico - James Taylor.

The Way You Look Tonight - Frank Sinatra or Michael Buble or any other that may exist :)

What's Another Year - Johnny Logan (don't know if there's covers of this one)

And that's the list. Now to make the other post :)
