My first and only major DNW for this year is fic not focusing on death, due to RL reasons. There is one fandom where I have given a prompt that can involve death, but there will be more details in the specific fandom section. I would also prefer a lack of downer endings in general for the same reasons.

I trust you to write me an interesting and enjoyable story based on one of these canons. You can also find more specific DNWs in my past Yuletide letters under this tag - I have not changed in any of those tastes since those letters were posted.

But mostly? Go ahead and have fun with these canons and characters.

One of the most influential musicians of all time, one of the most interesting personalities I've ever come across, one of my most long term writing/RPing muses. His music has influenced me in ways I'm not sure I am fully aware of.

Funny this is what draws me out of almost complete lurkerdom due to RL being so busy, but then again, Lou is important enough to me to be worth posting about, even briefly.

First, I know this is horribly late. I apologise sincerely for that. It may even be technically irrelevant if you've uploaded the story but I'm hoping it won't be.

If you are working on the story, though, I hope at least this will help you to avoid any major DNW things for me.

First of all, have fun, and write the story you want to write. That's the most important
thing to me. I'll be so happy with a story in any of these fandoms.

My only bulletproof squicks are scat, vore, vomit (in a sexual context), mental cruelty (outside of canonical limits), non-public figures (not publicly known beyond dating the celebrity is my personal guideline) and cheating (again outside of canonical limits).. Any of these would make me a little less happy with my Yuletide story.

My kinks include well-negotiated poly fic, pegging, bisexuality as a concept, rimming, incest, unusual but interesting sex scenes (that is so open to interpretation), queer characters whose queerness isn't necessarily a big issue in the story (though it can be about them coming to terms with it, that's good too), OT3s and OT4s are also good things in my fic. I really like pairings/moresomes who are all into each other rather than a couple bringing one person in for a night. I am also absolutely fine with gen or light romance. Honestly, as I said, a story in any of these fandoms would be so amazing, the type almost doesn't matter.

But because I like some guidance myself, a few (COMPLETELY OPTIONAL) details for the fandoms I have requested.

Just to let everyone know, I am in the part of Australia that is very affected by flooding and unseasonal rain. Right now it's not at all bad, but we're still on alert. This is very weird for the summer!

Fannishly I'm... not doing much, but it's not a bad thing. I'm more into watching shows lately than writing. I'm really looking forward to yuletide (matched on a fandom I've been dying to write in and there's another I may manage a drabble or two for as well, for once! Yay!).

One of the holiday fic exchanges that is near and dear to my heart is xmas_rocks which is an annual exchange for rock musician RPF (mostly slash and femslash - threesomes are also allowed) and it is in desperate need of writers.

So it is May, again, and I am doing the mmom challenge, again.

And last year I would not have made the 31 days without a few prompts from my flist, so I'm asking again.

Prompts could be a person (to do the, er, wanking), a pairing (may be only fantasy) or moresome, and if you'd like to include a lyric/phrase for inspiration, that is fine too.

Fandom list of things I might/could write: Classic rock slash (Stones, Beatles, Velvet Underground), Harry Potter (*maybe*), CSI (original - and I'm a little rusty on this one), Days Of Our Lives, Dr Who (probably not up to writing Eleven era yet, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden, Heroes (preferably S1 only) Star Trek (Reboot and I may be able to summon up a Voyager muse), Spiderman (movieverse), X-Men (movieverse), Torchwood (I don't do Jack/Ianto generally but will likely mention them as existing), RPF for most of the above (not Star Trek: Voyager). For Trek Reboot RPF I'd like non Zach/Chris prompts because I've already got about ten from the kinkmeme for them and have stuff written for two (why I haven't posted yet, they haven't gelled to a finish). Zach or Chris with others is totally welcome, even encouraged :D. I can do Heroes RPF with people in later series too, the S1 restriction is for the characters only. And yes, in general, I do incest.

I've been quiet, and I have so many unanswered comments, but I had to post holiday greetings (even if I'm a day light by my time).

Had a lovely day - it finally rained a decent amount, which is really, really good, the only bad part was that it was too rainy to go out to my cousin's farm for the evening, which would have been nice, but we'll catch up so it's okay. Had a lovely lunch with friends and family :). And got to see some very important online people because of not going out, so it was a win/win in the end.

As for my gifts, see under the cut. Mostly DVDs as I didn't have much else I wanted or needed as I tend to get those things through the year as needed.

It's bittersweet, sad, and delves into characters we only hear about for a few lines so, so perfectly. Just beautifully done and captures the song amazingly well.

Also because of the song/album interest in yuletide I'm considering making a comm for music-based stories. I'm not sure it'd be high traffic but it's one of those things I'd like to see, so I'm thinking of making it. I'd prefer LJ to Dreamwidth at this point, though, and I don't know if that is likely to make a difference.

And Joe is Joe Quinto, Zach's brother, a photographer and a stuntman who also was one of the many Romulans. I don't think I put last names terribly often... so there may be Chris confusion lol.

In short:

I loved it! It has everything I loved about the original, and TNG and DS9 and Voyager. Wonderful characters, played by wonderful actors and lots and lots of possible ships and writing. I'm hooked.

Also my yuletide source! I'm not saying what it is, but my god, I couldn't have picked a more perfect assignment for me if I'd given myself the assignment. And it has renewed my love for it so very much. My assignment is probably the best I've had since doing yuletide - not that the others haven't been good, I just really, really like this one.

Because I am so confident in my knowledge of music, ask me about 5 of your favorite bands, and make me list my favorite songs by each of them and why, but the catch is you must post this in your journal too! You know you want to! Make it so!

Personal note---I know it's says bands, but as far as I'm concerned, that can include individual performers. (in my case it might have to, as I'm not sure I could name five bands I have a favourite song by - or at least I might max out at five).

I knew this was coming, but I didn't expect it to hit me as hard as it did. I mean, we knew he had cancer, knew it was pancreatic cancer... but it's just. Damn.

From The Outsiders (I loved him as Darry), to the movies between (Grandview USA was so much fun), to North & South (a pre-slash slash fandom in that much as I loved the m/f love stories, the relationships between the men were what really drew me in - and the women too), to Dirty Dancing (nobody puts Baby in a corner) to Ghost (ditto... just ditto) to everything else, he was one of my first major crushes. I loved his dancing, his acting, his love for his beautiful wife.

The world is a little bit less bright today.

Or at least a really long time since I updated here.

There hasn't been a lot going on beyond fannish love, and there have been so many other things to do (RL is being very, very RL-ish) that updating here has slowed down.

So a short list of numbered points.

1. I watched all of Merlin. I am madly in love with Anthony Stewart Head as Uther. I am not so much slashing Merlin and Arthur - in that I really don't see myself writing them, though I've read a bit. My ships are apparently Uther/Morgana (because omg, hit all my kinks at once except the slash one) and Uther/Gaius and, er, ( cut for squicky shipCollapse ). I'm also fond of Uther/Merlin and Gwen/Morgana but a lot of my fondness is more going awww about what's onscreen - that's how I am with Merlin/Arthur too, really.

First, I has a Dreamwidth journal! You can find me over there as coneyislandbaby (it's a Lou Reed song) and I can't wait until I can add phrases from the song as my journal title and all that.

I'm not going anywhere journal wise, as I've said, but it's nice to have it. I'm not planning on crossposting except maybe to crosspost my fic over there from my fic journal. I'm mostly using it to keep in touch with people who have moved - it's easier.
