More often than not, poverty and inequality measures are based on consumption expenditures of hou... more More often than not, poverty and inequality measures are based on consumption expenditures of households but this does not represent the welfare of the individuals within the household and hence concern has been raised on policy formulation . The strong assumption for such data use has been that resources within a household are divided according to need but a growing body of literature has argued that this is not true and that consumption inequality exists within households . These studies have shown that certain social configurations such as discriminations or norms against women, the earning capacity of individuals and power structure within the households (traditionally assigned or acquired through earnings) are causes of inequality within the household.

An experimental study has been made of the influence of developer composition on the stability ag... more An experimental study has been made of the influence of developer composition on the stability against the print-out effect of bleached, photographically recorded two-beam interference grating on Agfa-Gevaert 10E75 NAH plates. The diffraction efficiency has been increased by using potassium iodide and an iodine bleach process that converts a silver image into a dielectric image. An improvement in stability against the print-out effect has been observed by using two new developer compositions. Variation of the maximum diffraction efficiency against exposure to white light is shown graphically.

Adult male rats were divided into Sham, SCI and SCI + MF groups. BBB score, threshold of tail flick (TTF), tail flick latency (TFL) were noted to assess sensori- motor functions. In MF exposed rats, a statistically significant improvement was noted in BBB score, TTF and TFL by 2 nd , 1 st , 5 th wk respectively and their survival rate increased. This study suggests a significant recovery in complete SCI rats by chronic MF exposure.

The fixed sample size procedure sometimes fail to deal with the estimation problem in which it is... more The fixed sample size procedure sometimes fail to deal with the estimation problem in which it is desired to control the combined risk associated with the estimation of parameters of various probability distributions simultaneously. In this paper for a general probabilistic model is proposed an "accelerated" sequential class to minimize the combined risk for simultaneous estimation of parameters of several probability distributions. The proposed class is shown to provide solutions for many estimation problems under different probabilistic setups for "given precision" problems. Besides, positive and negative moments for the stopping times are obtained and they are used for deriving the asymptotic expression for the "regret" associated with the class of "accelerated" sequential estimation procedure.

The prime aim of the current work was to illustrate the components existing in repeatedly used co... more The prime aim of the current work was to illustrate the components existing in repeatedly used cooking oil and to develop an economical process for the production of fatty acids from low cost feedstock waste. The waste cooking oil was characterized by the occurrence of high molecular weight hydrocarbons and polymerized derivative of esters. Triacontanoic acid methyl ester, 2,3,5,8-Tetramethyldecane, 3,3 dimethyl heptane, and 2,2,3,3-teramethyl pentane were detected as thermal and oxidative contaminants that adversely affect the quality of cooking oil. Fundamentally, waste cooking oil comprises ester bonds of long chain fatty acids. The extracellular lipase produced from P. chrysogenum was explored for the hydrolysis of waste cooking oil. The incorporation of lipase to waste cooking oil in 1:1 proportion released 17 % oleic acid and 5 % stearic acid.
