Two weeks ago we hiked up Mount Si again. This time we made it all the way to the top, where we were accosted by hungry squirrels and birds. Unfortunately there was no view, except for about 10 seconds.

This week we might go to Mount Rainier to see glaciers. Don't know if we'll actually hike or just walk around once we get there.

Last Sunday we hiked up the Excelsior trail to the High Divide. It was cold and misty, so there was no view at the top at all. We plan to hike there again when it is sunnier.

07:33 pm - Goat Mountain Trail
We hiked partway up Goat Mountain Trail today. A couple of miles up the trail we struck out on a side trail, trying to find an old lookout cabin. The side trail was no longer maintained, so it was a bit rough going. We never did make it to the cabin.

02:57 pm - Heliotrope Ridge
We have no hikes scheduled this weekend, as we're going to the Highland Games instead. However I never posted anything about last weekend's hike. jkling and I hiked up Heliotrope Ridge last Saturday. It's a popular trail, but most people seemed to be taking the Coleman Glacier climbers' route to Mt. Baker's summit. We turned left at the fork to get to the Coleman Glacier Viewpoint. Along the way we crossed several streams of varying sizes, and encountered snow on the ground at higher elevations. A very pleasant hike, and the weather was gorgeous!

02:06 pm - Summitted!
Yesterday's notable achievement was summitting Mount Pilchuck in the company of jkling, jackwilliambell, and two other friends.

The trail begins at 3100 feet above sea level and winds through an old growth forest to alpine heather and large rocks at the summit of Mount Pilchuck (5324 feet above sea level). (Park Overview)

We started hiking around 4pm; a late start, but we had brought flashlights in case we needed them on the way down. Higher up there was actually still some snow on the ground and on some parts of the trail. The top was mostly rocks with no accumulated snow. However there was snow falling from the sky! We were worried about the weather, so we didn't linger in the lookout building. After a quick bite to eat, we started back down. As we descended the snow gradually turned to rain. We made it to the bottom just after sunset without having to use our flashlights.

I attempted to do The 27-Fling Boogie, but I could only find 20 items to throw away.

Ugh, FlyLady seems rather touchy-feely. I don't have low self-esteem - I just want my house to be a little neater!

11:08 pm - housekeeping when married
Have just subscribed to FlyLady. jkling and I have different housekeeping habits, sometimes resulting in distressing (to me) clutter. I've already instituted a schedule to keep track of when I last vacuumed and cleaned the bathroom, so that's taken care of. And jkling is in charge of cleaning up after the cats, including litterbox and hairballs, yay! I have no problem clearing up clutter, but it always comes back and I don't want to be on a continuous cleaning cycle. So I'm looking for maintenance tips.

In the matter of written thank-you notes Miss Manners has prevailed, thanks to the refined tastes of jkling. (No chortles from gottacook, please.)
