His copy of Exopolitics: Politics, Government, and Law in the Universe was so beat-up it looked like it had been flushed down the toilet and dried out with a hairdryer. Everyone who knew him, including his relatives, thought he was insane.

Then, when he was seventeen, the first ship barreled into the Pacific Ocean.
