08:02 pm - New Trailer for Superman: The Man of Steel

Hum...

The first minute and a half is annoying as eff. Yes, yes, young Clark is afraid of getting captured and experimented on by the government, that's a perfectly valid fear. But wangst is not fun to watch. Superman: Secret Identity (which is a really awesome comic, btw) also dealt with the fear of getting captured and dissected (with plenty of incredibly creepy scenes, as well as Clark's terror that his newborn children will be a target), and guess what? No wangst, only genuinely engaging drama with a focus on solving problems and doing it quickly.

However, I have got to admit, I do like the take-off scene. The second half of the trailer looks definitely much more interesting to me. Guess I'll go watch this after all.

09:03 pm - Disney songs are perfect
I've been feeling lonely lately. Lots of work + freezing cold + shorter days = inability to go out with friends. Add in the fact that my sister is going to get married, so she is always busy and I can't even have a nice long chat with her anymore :/

(Obvs I'm happy for my sister, and her fiancè is the sweetest guy. But I still miss her company, you know?)

ANYWAY.

Here is a nice little video to cheer yourself up when you are feeling blue :)

"I have your hearts, you have my pity!" never fails to make me laugh. Who would have thought that freaking Disney created the slutty bitch precursor of Panty & Stocking? XD

10:38 pm - Finally something to post about :D
It's always a pain in the ass to recruit all 108 Stars of Destiny in Suikoden games. It would be fun if it were optional, but the whole "if you miss even one of them, your favourite character will die!" thing turns an enjoyable gameplay/story element into a chore. And even if you do manage to recruit all of them (which is almost impossible without a guide), there is always the (thankfully low, but still) chance of them getting killed in battle. After the final battle a couple of my units has been defeated, I frantically rushed to the Table to make sure that they had survived >_>

But the Perfect Ending is SO worth it! It seriously moved me to tears, it was so wonderful :D

Well, admittedly I was a little worried at first. [Spoilers] They took the Dawn and Twilight Rune off, but taking a True Rune off is known to slowly kill the previous user within a few years (poor Flame Champion ;_;). Thankfully, I checked the Suikoden wiki and it confirmed that the Dawn and Twilight are not real True Runes, so taking them off should be safe ^^

Anyway, speaking of games, check out this trailer for Lego Batman 2:

Watch it until the very end.

A couple of interesting videogame things.

1)Ace Attorney 5 is coming to the West.

http://kotaku.com/5940877/phoenix-wright-is-back-in-these-first-ace-attorney-5-screenshots
http://kotaku.com/5940901/phoenix-wright-is-back-for-ace-attorney-5-but-wheres-his-usual-cohort

Phoenix is a lawyer again! Fuck yeah!

Look, I don't really have anything against Apollo, and I wouldn't have minded him to have his own game. If they hadn't ruined Phoenix's life in the process.

You see me decry Nero? No, no you don't. Because making Nero the main character of DMC4 never involved making Dante lose everything he had.

Anyway. Phoenix looks smexy. He has grown up reeeeeeal nice!

2)The Kickstarter project for Broken Sword - the Serpent's Curse, the fifth BS game, has been successfully funded.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/165500047/broken-sword-the-serpents-curse-adventure

I'm not sure how I feel about that. The first two BW games were top notch, among the very best of the genre. The third game was pretty good, too.

But the fourth game? The fourth game was just sad. It would have been an ok random adventure game, but it didn't deserve the name Broken Sword. It was basically the Devil May Cry 2 of the BS series. If the quality of the BW games keeps dropping like that, it's much better of BS5 never gets made.

...Besides that... All right, look, I'll admit it, I'm a pathetically shallow shipper, allright? George and Nico were one of my very favourite couples since I was twelve. The first game outright stated that they were going to get married. Then, as the series went on, they grew more and more distant.

According to the promotional video for BS5, they have grown so distant that George won't even send Nico a friggin' email to let her know that he is visiting Paris. Fuck's sake. People make public Facebook posts to let even semi-strangers know that they are visiting their country, but American George won't let his ex-fiancee and supposedly current best friend know that he is crossing the ocean and will be in her city.

Yeah, I'm annoyed over the relationship (or lack thereof) of fictional characters. Bite me :P

3)Mann VS Machine is indeed the greatest videogame update ever.

http://www.teamfortress.com/mvm/

It's basically "Enemy Mine: The Game." Love it So. Much.

One thing I noticed playing it: the gameplay can go from "ridiculously fun" to "ridiculously annoying" depending on your teammates.

Normal TF2 matches have 12 players per team. So, even if, say, 2 or 3 of them suck, whatever, you can still kick ass and win.

But MvsM only has 6 players. Also, I've been playing Mann Up Mode, which is Advanced Difficulty. Meaning that, if even one of the six players sucks, the game is noticeably harder. If two suck, it's much harder. If three suck, you might as well give up and do your nails while robots slaughter your group.

Apparently, normal mode is much easier and much shorter (only takes around one hour or less, whereas Mann Up can easily go past two hours). But then if you get good teammates it can be too easy. So, really, it's all about luck: you'll have a great time or you'll be annoyed or bored depending on the people you end up playing with.

11:48 am - Man of Steel trailer
Here is the trailer for the upcoming Superman movie.

...'Kay?

I never liked Superman for the same reason I never liked Green Lantern: the power set makes no sense. Like, he supposedly can move at the speed of light, but he never does when he fights. He supposedly is strong enough to move the moon, yet he never causes any accidental damage on Earth when he fights or even when he touches stuff. He has laser sight and freeze breath, but even as a kid he never accidentally fried nor froze anybody. He supposedly can hear everything (in one story, he can hear a single gunshot from the other side of the planet), yet he hasn't gone insane over being forced to constantly listen to torture and rape and murder that happen all the time all over the world.

That, and I was pissed off that Cyclops had to be killed off in the third X-Men movie because the actor had to be in the Superman movie. I was so pissed I refused to watch that Superman movie.

But I thought, I might go see this new Superman movie. I have no reasons to boycott it this time, and while I may not be a fan of the characters it might be worth seeing just for the special effects.

But the trailer really left me cold. I dunno, it just sounds weird to me. So... drab. I hope the next trailer is better.

11:08 pm - Meet The Pyro
So, Meet The Pyro is now out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUhOnX8qt3I

*SPOILERS*

I can't say I liked it... Unlike the usual funny and kinda creepy TF2 movie, this one was genuinely creepy, I actually found it disturbing. YMMV.

Oh, well. I've still got my favourites, Meet The Spy and Meet The Medic and Meet The Engineer. It's not like I could expect to love ALL the Meet The videos. There are 10 of them (nevah forget Meet The Sandvich!), I guess it's pretty good that I dislike only one of them.

Hum... Pretty much any fanfiction with Pyro ever is now non-canon. Darn. And I'm annoyed by the fact that his/her teammates don't like him/her, too. I'm a big fan of comradeship, it's disappointing to see that Pyro's teammates think of him/her as a monster.

01:45 pm - Indie VS Mainstream? I'd much rather play both!
Speaking as somebody who loved LIMBO, liked Braid, and is very fond of indie games in general...

This is still pretty damn accurate XD

My love for indie games is kind of getting spoiled by obnoxious elitists who'll bitch and whine and generally be total jerks if you *le gasp!* dare to enjoy "lowly" games like Call of Duty. The creator of Braid in particular comes across as "everybody sucks except me!" in a couple of interviews.

I don't even like Call of Duty, I tried playing it once and got bored out of my mind. But it's the principle of the thing! Why the heck can't people just like what they like, even if it's not terribly original? Why should anybody be shamed for enjoying tried-and-true entertainment like sequels, for wanting to re-experience something they've enjoyed before?

Sure, stagnation is bad. Sure, innovation is good. But being patronizing and hostile about it isn't going to convince people to try out new things, they'll just think you are an asshole (and they'd probably be right too).

And Mario games are effin' awesome ^_^

09:10 pm
Well, so far this year's E3 has been incredibly underwhelming.

Ffs, the most interesting thing, the HD remake of Majora’s Mask, turned out to be a fan-made prank!

So far, the only things of interest to me in E3 have been:

- Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Ok, this is a game I'm very excited about, but I already knew it was coming and I had already seen several new trailers plus a demo before this E3, so E3 didn't really add anything.

- The fake Majora’s Mask trailer. Very nice trailer, but it turned out to be a very elaborate prank by anonymous fans:
http://kotaku.com/5916021/oh-if-only-this-majoras-mask-hd-trailer-had-been-real

- Ni No Kuni is coming to the West. This would normally be something I'd be extremely excited about, but the game was announced a very long time ago and it was published a year and a half ago, so the excitement has kind of flopped. Still very good news, just... kind of late.

- The Agni's Philosophy video. It's very cool, but it's not even a real game, just a short video meant to show off pretty graphics.

- Resident Evil 6. I'm not a big fan of RE, but the trailer looked good, and Leon is pretty awesome.

Judging from the trailer and screenshots, the new Lara Croft game looks to me like an exploitative snuff movie, so I'm going to ignore it.

So. In short: no The Last Guardian, no Final Fantasy VS XIII, no Dragon Age III, no new Guilty Gear (the bazillionth re-release of XX doesn't count) or The King of Fighters, no new Ace Attorney, no new Broken Sword (despite the fact that BS5 was supposed to come out this year, but it appears to have been quietly canned), no new beat 'em up/platformer games, no new Valve games. All this E3 has given me so far have been extra trailers for games I was already very familiar with, a fake trailer for a cool remake that is not coming, a pretty video for a FF game that's not coming, and a new trailer for a game I'm only mildly interested in.

Meh.

Here, have some awesome MLP fanart to cheer up:

01:12 pm - Funny Valve games video
If you have ever played any Valve games (Team Fortress, Portal, Half-Life), you need to watch this video.

Granted, I'm easily amused. But this video had me in tears XD

EDIT: this link here has got the video in slightly better quality.
