Hip Kit Club: Whatever

Oh, the January 2026 kits from Hip Kit Club have been making my color-loving heart so happy … especially during a long, sometimes dull, winter season.

WHATEVER

I began this layout by creating a simple background with the purple cardstock (Grateful) and a strip of the cream floral patterned paper (‘So Many Words’). I used the patterned branding strip from the same floral patterned paper to add a border across the top.

Next, I double matted three small photos (3.25″ x 2.5″ horizontal) with the pink brushstroke patterned paper (‘Endless Possibilities’) and the teal cardstock (Calm). Then it was time to add lots of fun elements.

My first choice was to fussy-cut the large puzzle ring from the 6×8 Pocket Life paper. I love the cute, girly colors of this kit and the puzzle ring tied all of those colors together in one swoop. I layered together the two speech bubble die-cuts to serve as my title. The phrases go perfectly with these silly selfies my daughters and I took together one day.

The phrases throughout this collection are so cute! The chipboard ‘Stay Weird’ oval definitely goes along with my photos as well. We definitely enjoy being giggly & weird in our household. I added the Viewmaster toy die cut and a puffy butterfly sticker, along with some clear gems to add some decoration to the right edge of the column of photos.

To the left of the photos, I layered together a 3×4 Pocket Life journal card, a yellow tag, and the pink label (both from the Journaling die cuts) to create a home for my journaling and some embellishments. The layered pieces help the other elements to stand out against the bold floral background paper.

I made sure to evenly distribute black-colored elements throughout the page for a punch of contrast. This subtle detail keeps the viewers eye moving through the page and ties everything back in with the black and white photos. I also sprinkled some clear gems (from my stash) throughout for a bit of sparkle & shine.

I love the cute & colorful feel of this page and can’t wait to play with the January 2026 Hip Kits again!

Hip Kit Club: Snow Much Fun!

Flowers + winter = an unexpected combo that totally works! December is full of contrasts—cozy sweaters and hot chocolate alongside bright poinsettias and colorful winter gear. I’m using the ‘Savor the Season’ collection from December’s Hip Kits to mix floral patterns with my snow day photos. Sometimes the best layouts come from pairing things that don’t quite match!

SNOW MUCH FUN!

I’m loving the December Hip Kits for this winter layout—all those cozy seasonal icons are perfect for these snowboarding photos of my husband and son. I started by matting blue snowy patterned paper onto green cardstock for my background. Then I created snow hills by layering three different patterned papers along the bottom. I machine-stitched along each edge with white thread, then roughed them up with my edge distressor to add texture and dimension.

I matted my two photos (one vertical, one horizontal) with green paper and arranged them on the page. Under the vertical photo on the left, I built an embellishment cluster using snow-themed die-cuts from the kit. For my journaling, I used speech bubble stickers placed on the top-right corner of the vertical photo. In my photos my husband is wearing a bright red snow coat, so I echoed that pop of color by adding red florals around the layout—a fun twist with the winter theme.

To finish, I fussy-cut small tags from one of the patterned papers and tucked them around the photos and florals, adding a knot of black twine to each one. My title runs across the bottom of the photos using black puffy alphabet stickers. For the final touch, I scattered puffy shape stickers and chipboard circles around the page, adding a clear gem from my stash to each one for extra sparkle and dimension.

So, what about you? Are you battling the winter blues with stacks of photos and colorful paper? I hope this project inspired you to spend a cozy day in your craft room doing some creating.

See you next time!

Simple Stories: Hello Sweetie

It’s been a L-O-N-G time since I have created a baby layout, but I always welcome the opportunity whenever a new, super-CUTE baby collection comes my way! Simple Stories just released a darling baby collection as part of their ‘Classic Pooh’ collection called Classic Pooh – Baby. I had so much FUN creating this page!

HELLO SWEETIE

It’s interesting printing off baby pictures of your children after they have grown into adults. Photos that I didn’t choose to scrapbook the first time around are now seen with new eyes …. ‘How could I NOT scrapbook this photo, and this photo, and this one, too?!’

I found lots of photos of 19-year-old Camryn at 9 months old that I couldn’t wait to work with again!

Don’t worry if you don’t currently have babies or grandbabies in your life … there are SO MANY sweet elements, like florals, bees, and DARLING pastel patterns that will be perfect for scrapbooking Spring or Easter photos, too!

I definitely had to use lots of the florals and little bumblebees on this page, sprinkling them in wherever I could.

I also added in lots of machine-stitched details since the collection had dash lines and patterns with ric rac-shaped stripes. I always love to stitch on my pages anyway, but I love when a collection has those details incorporated into the elements as well.

I used some dies from my stash to die-cut two ovals to anchor my title. I used the same Color Vibe Blush cardstock that I used for the page border, along with the dotted side of the Color Vibe White cardstock. Next, I added coordinating glossy enamel dots in different sizes on top of the title letters to give it added dimension.

Of course I had in a little bit of Winnie the Pooh by the title, too! He’s as cute as can bee! 😀

The last little detail I added to this page was a die-cut scallop border at the bottom of the small photo. I thought it would be a great way to bring the yellow color down to the bottom portion of the page, and I also think it highlights the photo of my daughter’s cute little toes, too!

Thanks for coming by today! Happy scrapping, friends!

Simple Stories: Family Fun!

Oh, how I love a good game night with the family! Hello, friends! It’s been a while since I have updated my blog and I figured I would start with my latest layout created for Simple Stories. This scrapbook page is celebrating the silly antics between siblings using the NEW Game Night collection. this collection is bright & colorful and full of so many fun icons from our family’s favorite board games. I couldn’t wait to play with this one!

FAMILY FUN!

I began this layout by fussy-cutting a few elements from the papers. First, I cut out the large stack of board games from the 6×8 Pad to accent the left side of my page & anchor my overall design.

Next, I fuss-cut the numbered spinner from the 3×4 ‘That’s Life!’ 3×4 card (12×12 paper), as well as the phrase, to tuck behind the top edge of my photo. I accented the center of the numbered spinner with the large spinner Decorative Brad for added dimension.

I accented my title with a fan of money, game pieces, and the chipboard starbursts. The most funny thing about playing the game with my kids this particular day was how MAD my daughter was that she ended up with a job that didn’t pay well … so the money icon was a MUST. Ha!

The title was created with a mixture of foam stickers and Big Bits. I added more game pieces and starbursts to the right side of the title, then accented the centers of each one with the Glitter Enamel Dots. So CUTE!

This was the first time my kids had played the game of ‘LIFE’ and I love that there were elements included in the Game Night collection that matched this board game! It’s definitely a family-favorite and the vibrant colors captured the excitement of our time together. What boardgame does your family like to play?

See you again soon!
