Immich Uploader is an app that scans all accessible files on your Android device, finds all images or videos, and allows you to upload them to an Immich server of your choice.
The app can mark all media files from certain places (say all media files in Downloads) to be deleted after upload.
It's a great alternative to the Immich app for devices that are not your regular phone!
Keep Android open!
If you own an Android phone, and you like using free, open source software, and you value freedom of choice, be advised that Google is planning to lock your phone down.
keepandroidopen.org has more information and some things you could do, whether you are a user or are otherwise invested.
Big media files
Immich Uploader may run into issues with big media files. There are settings that allow you to limit the size of files the app will try to upload.
If you set this to "auto", Immich Uploader will try to upload every file, big or small. It will also try and record the biggest file size it has uploaded successfully so far.
Immich permissions
In order to work, the app needs a user with a couple of permissions on your Immich instance.
asset.upload - to be able to upload media files.
apiKey.read - for testing the connection, used on the Settings screen (since v2.2.2)
tag.read - for retrieving the list of Tags on your Immich instance (since v3.1.0)
tag.asset - for applying Tags to assets (since v3.1.0)
If you use the "Check connection" buttons on the Settings view, but your Immich user does not have apiKey.read permission, the check will fail.
If your Immich user does not have tag.asset permission, uploads will still work, but media files will not be tagged.
