Streszczenie: Coraz bardziej oczywista staje się mediatyzacja -w szerokim sensie nasycenia mediam... more Streszczenie: Coraz bardziej oczywista staje się mediatyzacja -w szerokim sensie nasycenia mediami -wszelkich sektorów życia społecznego, a w szczególności polityki. Jednocześnie media -w dawnym znaczeniu mediów masowego rozpowszechniania -coraz bardziej się tabloidyzują, to znaczy ulegają wzorom wykształconym przez dzienniki zwane tabloidami dla swej specyficznej formy i zawartości. Jedną z ich cech była obrazowość, w przenośnym sensie języka, a w dosłownym -licznych dużych fotografii i grafik, a także wielkich, krzyczących nagłówków w tytułach. Oczywista jest obrazowość telewizji, ale i w niej jako medium w istocie rozrywkowego (wzorem jest tu film) następuje kontaminacja tabloidalnym stylem i obrazem wszelkich produkcji, w tym tradycyjnie politycznych i dziennikarskich. W rezultacie w pewnym sensie możemy mówić o obrazowej sferze publicznej, a więc i społeczeństwie spektaklu, w którym dominują obrazy i język obrazowy kosztem idei i słowa analitycznego. Następuje zmiana orientacji dziennikarskiej -miejsce publicysty zajmuje dziennikarski omnibus i showman (showperson), albo, jak go chętnie nazywał Ryszard Kapuściński, media worker. Czy możliwa jest zmiana tego trendu, jakie czynniki mogą tu pomóc, to kwestia do dalszych dyskusji.

The title of the article was inspired by the novel by John Steinbeck "Of Mice and Men" (1937) and... more The title of the article was inspired by the novel by John Steinbeck "Of Mice and Men" (1937) and the poem by Robet Burns about the deception of human plans. Even the best of them often lead astray, or their far-reaching negative effects are revealed. As it seems, nowadays nature ("mice") and men (people) are in a breakthrough periodin the geological sense between the old and the new era, the Holocene and the Anthropocene, in the cultural sensebetween the analogue and digital era that can beand it should actually be called a digit. Levi-Strauss in his essay "Raw and cooked" points to the groundbreaking for the emergence of human culture the use of fire in the preparation of food, and therefore the transition from nature to culture, and its foundationthe kitchen . At present, this new phase of transition can be seen in the digitization of interpersonal communication and its current correlationcrosslinking. It was announced by the famous Turing machine (1936), a computer design and layout, which was realized in the 1940s and 1950s, and enter in mass production at its end, networked on a global scale in the 1990s and make mobile in the second decade of the 21st century in the form of a smartphone

The concept of glasnost goes back all the way to Tsarist Russia and can also be found in Lenin&am... more The concept of glasnost goes back all the way to Tsarist Russia and can also be found in Lenin's works. In proclaiming a policy of glasnost, Gorbachev is focusing less on the right to know, and even less on the freedom of the press, than on the usefulness to the regime of an informed and involved citizenry. While certainly encouraging criticism of those in the apparatus who oppose his policies, Gorbachev hopes above all that glasnost will make it possible to win the voluntary collaboration of society — especially the intelligentsia — in his programme of modernizing the Soviet system. The concept also marks a growing understanding of the role of information in modern society. In particular, it serves the pursuit of three major goals: broadening access to existing information; improving the quality and quantity of information; and making better use of it to inform policy at all levels. As much as glasnost is a concept in need of definition, it is also one in need of theory and research. Meanwhile it presents communication scholars with both new challenges and new research opportunities.

Artykuł dotyczy korzystania z mediów oraz ich funkcji w czasie pandemii koronowirusa. Teza: ogrom... more Artykuł dotyczy korzystania z mediów oraz ich funkcji w czasie pandemii koronowirusa. Teza: ogromny wzrost znaczenia komunikacji zmediatyzowanej w sytuacji fi zycznego dystansowania się w warunkach pandemii, którą można dookreślić jako "płynną", gdyż przybierającą cechy Baumanowskiego pojęcia "płynnej nowoczesności". Grafi czny obraz koronowirusa i jego potoczna nazwa oraz maseczka na twarzach, pokazywane przez media, są podstawowym składnikiem społecznej konstrukcji obrazu pandemii w skali globalnej. COVID-19 jest przeto konstruktem biologicznym, ale także medialnym i społecznym. Zarządzany przez władze lockdown w pierwszym kwartale pandemii był powszechnie i spolegliwie przestrzegany, co w dużej mierze było pochodną umocnienia "kultury strachu". Jednocześnie umacniały się formy kontaktów na odległość, a nawet działań grupowych. Metoda badawcza: obserwacja uczestnicząca w zdalnym nauczaniu i pracy zdalnej. Analiza wykorzystania nielicznej literatury tematu, desk research wypowiedzi eksperckich. Wyniki i wnioski: duży chaos informacyjny w pierwszej fazie pandemii. Nasilenie fake newsów w mediach społecznościowych. Podatny grunt dla stygmatyzacji społecznej oraz teorii spiskowych. Wartość poznawcza: ukazanie medialnego wymiaru pandemii oraz jego konsekwencji dla umocnienia pozycji wielkich fi rm informacyjno-komunikacyjnych (GAFA) i wzrostu znaczenia form medialnej komunikacji we wszystkich rodzajach kontaktów społecznych. Artykuł wskazuje na wagę analiz funkcji, pozycji i roli mediów -masowych, społecznościowych i indywidualnychw warunkach przestrzennej separacji. He was an acute observer of the changes he analysed and described in his research papers. At the same time he was a captain and a skipper of a small but significant scientific ship, called the Press Research Centre (OBP) in Cracow, in the turbulent decades of its dynamic development from 1969 to 1990. After the tragic death of Irena Tetelowska, Walery Pisarek became the director of the Centre and led his research teams, within the framework of AIERI and UNESCO, strengthening the Centre's international position and recognition

In order to make the East European countries a parallel part of his empire Stalin imposed the same standardized patterns in politics, in the army and in the security forces.1 Dana A. Schmidt in her analysis of The Anatomy of a Satellite, written in 1952, pointed out four main spheres of direct imitation: Immediately upon seizing power in a country, the Communists do four things. They abolish all opposing political parties and establish a oneparty dictatorship; they create secret police; they establish a ministry of propaganda to tell people what they should know and how should they think; and, finally, they surround the whole system with an Iron Curtain. It is moot to ask what comes first. They are interdependent; take one away and the entire structure is threatened. They are four walls of the Communist house.2

Newspapers and journalism are experiencing a serious crisis, primarily economic, but also a crisi... more Newspapers and journalism are experiencing a serious crisis, primarily economic, but also a crisis of their social role and credibility. It is visible in the decline in expenditure and revenue, including advertising, in the decreasing number of journalists and loss of public confidence. This pushes the further tabloidization of journalism, by which I mean using all means, themes, and forms that could attract readers. The result is a simplification of the content, a neglect of journalistic ethics, andworst of all -numerous errors, from spelling mistakes to false information. This further decreases the credibility of the press. To brake this vicious circle a renewed appreciation of the importance of confidence in journalism is needed. N ależy profesor Janusz Adamowski do tej -nielicznej -grupy polskich naukowców me- dioznawców, kt... more N ależy profesor Janusz Adamowski do tej -nielicznej -grupy polskich naukowców me- dioznawców, którzy, bacznie obserwując zmieniające się media prasowe, za swój główny przedmiot badawczy wybrali przeobrażenia mediów zagranicznych, a jako przedmiot działalności uniwersyteckiej -organizację dydaktyczną i badawczą (w Jego przypadku kierunku dziennikarstwa na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim). W 2016 roku dzięki uporczywym staraniom profesora Adamowskiego powstał Wydział Dziennikarstwa, Informacji i Bibliologii, obejmując trzy subdyscypliny defi niujące współczesną komunikację społeczną: nauki o mediach, informatologię i bibliologię, w formie dostosowanej do najnowszych przeobrażeń zarówno technologii medialnych, jak i samej dyscypliny -uprzednio określanej jako dziennikarstwo lub prasoznawstwo (teoria i praktyka). Świętując przeto Jubileusz Profesora Janusza Adamowskiego, podziękuję Jubilatowi za pionierskość oraz dalekowzroczność w rozpoznawaniu "znaków czasu", a nade wszystko za ogromny wkład pracy w tworzenie organizacyjnego i naukowego zaplecza dla nowej dyscypliny nauk społecznych -nauk o komunikacji społecznej i mediach. Jako skromny dodatek do swego podziękowania za wieloletni wysiłek i dorobek Profesora Adamowskiego dołączam garść refl eksji socjologa i medioznawcy odnoszących się do funkcjonowania uczelni wyższych w ostatnim okresie, czyli w pandemii, poprzedzając je słowami pieśniarza i noblisty Boba Dylana ze słynnej piosenki The Times They Are a-Changin' (1964): Co dziś jest powolne, to jutro popędzi, To, co teraz jest ważne, już za chwilę nie będzie, Szybko zmienia się porządek świata, […] oto czasy nadchodzą nowe.
