The article presents a legal act as a potential subject of mythologization. The tools derived fro... more The article presents a legal act as a potential subject of mythologization. The tools derived from the studies on political myth were used to describe a phenomenon that strictly belongs to the political and legal reality – the American JUST Act of 2017, which in recent years has caused many controversies in Polish public debate. While using the theoretical methods of the most notable researchers of the political myth, such as R. Barthes or E. Cassirer, it has been shown that legal acts, as well as their reception and interpretation, are not always based on rational forms of cognition. They can also be affected by a political myth and a mythical form of cognition, which is depicted in this study
by means of methodology implemented from the studies on political myth. The article formulates interesting comments that may be useful for a better understanding of the phenomena on the border of Polish jurisprudence, political science and mythology.

Artykuł stanowi próbę przedstawienia niezwykle istotnego w badaniach mitu politycznego na gruncie... more Artykuł stanowi próbę przedstawienia niezwykle istotnego w badaniach mitu politycznego na gruncie polskim mitu smoleńskiego z perspektywy podejścia semiologicznego. Analiza teorii Rolanda Barthesa i Tadeusza Biernata, będących przedstawicielami tego właśnie podejścia, pozwoli na przyjrzenie się mitologizowaniu rzeczywistości społeczno-politycznej po katastrofie smoleńskiej poprzez schemat powstawania znaków symbolicznie wyrażających mit polityczny. Umożliwi ona również ukazanie obecności tak rozumianego zjawiska mitu w wydarzeniach czy wypowiedziach z omawianego okresu. Celem opracowania stanie się więc ukazanie kluczowego dla współczesnego dyskursu politycznego wydarzenia od strony mechanizmu kreowania mitologizacji w zbiorowej pamięci.

By examining the evolution of its institutions during and after the process of decolonization, the author captures crucial directions of those changes, their nature and also their meaning, which leads to interesting conclusions referring not only to the outcome of attempts to renounce the British imperialism in the internal
structure of the Commonwealth, but also to those aspects of mentioned reforms that may be important in the future of the organization.

Zaprezentowane zestawienie koncepcji autorstwa Georgesa Sorela i Ernsta Cassirera, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ich aspektów funkcjonalnych, pozwala nie tylko przyjrzeć się powyższej zmianie, ale także ukazać wady każdego z ujęć mitu, oraz zrozumieć kontekst wpływający na odmienne rozumienie pojęcia przez obu autorów.

Konieczność wprowadzania oficjalnego nazewnictwa w przestrzeni publicznej, absolutnie przecież niezbędnego do prawidłowego poruszania się w niej, zarówno w aspekcie prawnym, jak i najprostszych potrzeb życia codziennego, stawia przed nami od wieków pytanie o jego charakter, niesiony przez nie inny niż tylko informacyjny przekaz oraz jego związki i relacje z pamięcią zbiorową społeczeństwa w którym funkcjonuje. Odpowiedzi na nie można poszukiwać, śledząc historyczny proces nadawania nazw ulicom Krakowa, prowadzący aż do najnowszych zmian związanych tzw. “ustawą dekomunizcyjną”. Poddany przy tym analizie zostaje polityczny, jak i nieodłącznie powiązany z nim na tym polu, prawny aspekt omawianego zjawiska. Refleksja ta dostarcza wielu ciekawych wniosków, nie tylko w zakresie ewolucji sposobów kreowania pamięci zbiorowej przez władzę, ale także tego jaki ślad w nazewnictwie pozostawiają historyczne przemiany społeczno-polityczne oraz tego, czy zmiany nazewnictwa realnym środkiem wpływania na tożsamość zbiorową, czy też relacja ta ma raczej odwrotny charakter.

Summary
The necessity of introducing official names in the public space is absolutely essential when it comes to movement and identification in it, both in the legal, and everyday's life aspects. It also brings up questions about the nature of the naming process, about its meaning that is not only informational and about its relations with the collective memory of the society in which those names exist. Answers to those questions can be found while examining the historical process of creating names of the streets in Cracow that leads to the newest legal changes included in the so-called “decomunization law”. A reflection like this bring a lot of interesting conclusions, not only about the evolution of the means of creating collective memory by the autorithies, but also about the influence of the historical and political changes on that memory. It also helps to discover if that autoritative creation of the names in the public space has any impact on our collective identity or if this relation works in a completely oposite way.
