In this paper, a fuzzy logic artificial intelligence technique is delineate to predict the materi... more In this paper, a fuzzy logic artificial intelligence technique is delineate to predict the material removal rate (MRR) and average surface roughness (R a) during abrasive-mixed electro-discharge diamond surface grinding (AMEDDSG) of Nimonic 80A. Though, Nimonic 80A superalloy is extensively used in aerospace and automotive industries due to its high corrosion, fracture toughness, oxidation, and temperature resistance characteristics, being a difficult-to-cut material, its machining is a challenging job. The hybrid machining processes like AMEDDSG can be competently used for machining of Nimonic 80A. The face-centered central composite design is used consummate the experiments and then experimental data are used to establish fuzzy logic Mamdani model to predict the MRR and R a with respect to changes in the input process parameters viz. wheel RPM, abrasive concentration, pulse current and pulse-on-time. The results of confirmation experiments reveal an agreement between the fuzzy model and experimental results with 93.89 % accuracy implying that the established fuzzy logic model can be precisely used for predicting the performance of the AMEDDSG process. An increase in wheel RPM, pulse current, and pulse-ontime from their low level to high level contributes to increased MRR by 83.89, 71.01, 17.02 %, respectively. Also, an increase in wheel RPM contributes to reduced R a values by 5.96 %. Abrasive concentration increase from 0 to 4 g/L improves MRR by 24.03 %. The 17.10 % improvement in surface finish is achieved by increasing abrasive concentration from 0 to 8 g/L.

The experimental results of specific wear-rate showed an indicator with the extent of microfracturing of grains, plowing of materials and debris formation on the wear track after a long wear cycle in terms of entropy level, edge density index, and entropy filtered image, and the nature of histogram at different doping levels. The lowest value of entropy level and edge density index is shown at the level of 1 wt%. Investigation of recycling and reutilizing capability of industrial wastes is essential to attend... more Investigation of recycling and reutilizing capability of industrial wastes is essential to attend the vision of sustainable waste management. One such industrial waste is cupola slag, a by-product of grey cast iron. This slag mainly ends up in dump yards or landfills due to a lack of proper attention. This article aims to analyse available previous literature to understand every possible door for reutilizing cupola slag to attain the goal of sustainable waste management. Primary importance is given to the utilization of cupola slag in the building industry as partial or full substitution of fine and coarse natural aggregates as well as cement for making concrete. The reusability has been analysed by extensive investigations on microstructure, chemical and physical properties of cupola slag starting from its origin. Very few analyses of the utilization of cupola slag can be found in different sectors such as for making glass ceramics, synthesizing zeolite and phosphorus-based fertilizers, making ceramic foams, road construction and use as artificial pozzolan. The extensive analysis not only opened a huge opportunity to ensure reuse of industrial waste, i.e. cupola slag but also utilization can provide some added advantages of being eco-friendly. A sustainable future can be assured by more rigorous study and implementation of methods for the reuse of cupola slag.

With increase in sintering temperature, the bulk density of alumina has increased gradually and optimized at 1600°C. The optimizing effect of densification at 1600°C is 98.25% by the addition of 1 wt.% nano TiO2. The maximum solid solubility of titania in alumina grains was at 1600°C, causes optimisation of densification by 1 wt. % addition. The excess addition of TiO2 formed low dense Al2TiO5, appear as a secondary phase at grain boundaries and does not significantly improved densification. Fracture toughness increases and coefficient of friction decreases with the addition of nano TiO2 in alumina matrix. The 1wt.% nano TiO2 addition improved hardness to 8.82% and reduces specific wear rate to 45.56%. The 1wt.% nano TiO2 addition greatly influenced the microstructure of sintered Al2O3. In real-time scheduling problem, the processing time may be uniformly distributed to the machines. Focusing on this point the new algorithm is introduced. Here, we have compared the new heuristic with three existing standard heuristics available in literature. Computational results correspond that the new method provides better performance than the existing methods for both the small and large-size problems.

The proposed work studies the variation of friction coefficient with change in sliding frequency up to 60 Hz and normal load up to 1 kgf independently, and the data is used to develop an algorithm following the best fit topology. Among various curve fitting techniques like polynomial fit of degree two, exponential fit of degree one and two, smoothing spline and Weibull fit, with minimum root mean square error, cubic spline fit method is adopted to form smooth curves in MATLAB. The algorithm is validated to predict the addition level of titania in alumina for given friction coefficient and sliding frequency or normal load. The result lies within a maximum error of 4.43% for cubic spline fit.

Tribological studies were conducted by reciprocating a silicon nitride ball on the prepared samples in dry condition in a linear reciprocating tribotester. Reciprocating friction tests were conducted at normal loads of 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, and 1.0 kgf and the frequencies of 15, 30, 45, and 60 Hz. Coefficient of friction is influenced by the normal load and sliding frequency levels. The friction coefficient increases with increasing sliding frequency, normal load, and nano-oxide addition. The coefficient of friction sharply increases at the level of sliding frequency from 30 to 45 Hz and normal load from 500 to 700 gmf. Since coefficient of friction gradually increases with increase in CuO weight percent in the alumina matrix, it can be inferred that these materials can be used as ceramic brake or clutch.

The motto of this expert system using MATLAB software is to make the people of the world healthier, free from breast cancer and its metastasis through the power of information.
